This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dumbass.

Because he had no sense of humor.  Or hadn't been multiple imperial (you lightweight metric bastards) pints into Stone Ruination IPA.

Oh, wait, I was going to pick on Exalted, but I forgot about Blue Rose. Goddam magic deer and all that…

So... The Tomb of Five Corners, then?
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

For the sake of mocking games we love, I would run a Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader campaign in which the PCs are fearless freedom fighters out to overthrow the Imperium, institute a democratic Galactic Federation, make peace with the Tau and Eldar, and win definitive and lasting victories over the various alien races that can't be negotiated with (Tyranids, Necrons, Orks). Oh, and kill the Chaos Gods too.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Basically the thing that would set Exaltofags crying for their Naruto character pillows.

How would this be a perversion?  Exalted can be used to play anything!

Seriously though, who has the time?

In this spirit, I'd like to propose a Wushu campaign in a genre/style which nobody on RPG.net believes it's suitable for.

Is Wushu still an RPG.net darling? I remember that not too long ago it was recommended for every purpose under the sun...

I once hijacked a mopey TT Vampire game from a GM that confided he was unprepared for the role.  As a friend, not a dick move.  But I ran that game as a Dungeon Master (like me) would: Submachine guns, collateral damage and lots of morally questionable fatalities.  One of the first fights had characters leaping between skyscrapers through glass, running away from a werewolf, shit like that.  All the players got violence boners.

I'm sure I'm not the only person out there that realized Vampire could be fun if you ignored all the shitty canon and let people behave like monsters every now and then.  A lot of those players became great buddies and wanted in on my D&D games.

In my circle of friends, at least, it's more or less unanimously accepted that Vampire is lame if you play it as the designers intended, but is awesome if you play it as a violent action game of blood-drinking superhumans.

I might be able to do you one better, with just one word: Dawnlight.  Okay, so it's a compound word, but Dawnlight is the good counterpart to Stormbringer that I'm going to use in my next Elric! campaign.  It can restore the soul of anyone killed by either Stormbringer or Mourneblade, and it brings them back in a spiritually pure and/or penitent state. And it has at least one HP more than Stormbringer, so if they ever come into contact with one another, Dawnlight will win.  And I'm going to do a crossover, where the swordbearer will come to the world of Call of Cthulhu to fix up the nasty Mythos gods.  Maybe I'll make the sword triplets, so all the players can have one.

I did pervert Blue Rose. I used it to run my Port Blacksand campaign, featuring a worthless hive of scum and villainy where the players were all rugged individualists out to serve their own enlightened self-interest...

...that by itself would not make the campaign a "perversion" as such, but this did: In serving their enlightened self-interest they ended up making Port Blacksand a BETTER place, because they came to understand that Liberty is the mother of all good, and they kicked out their supernatural overlords to leave people with (a degree of) self-determination.

Wow.

Sounds like a very Ayn Rand twist on it all.

EDIT: Damn it. The Puppy Avatar dude had the same kind of thought.
Oh well, twisted creative minds think alike sometimes.

I once intentionally created an anti-social loser character in Codex, a Hungarian RPG that places a high emphasis on Renaissance-style social intrigue between highly competent noblemen/women. The plan sorta backfired because the game session turned out to be about infiltrating a warehouse to steal something, so my clever deconstruction of a game I really didn't like ended up as a perfectly mundane PC in fantasy generica. :)

It was a dick move, too, and I wouldn't do it anymore.
Now with a Zine!
