This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: J Arcane;399465Hee hee.  I was reading IMFDB the other day, and there was a caption under a picture of Simon and Kaylee in the Firefly article that cracked me up: "Sean Maher and Jewel Staite both do an excellent job of portraying people with no weapons training at all."

I've been to shooting ranges like that before!

...and I've been to the opposite, where everyone at the range was a combat-veteran accustomed to firearms used in very "non-safe" conditions.

In both circumstances, however, I'd rather be with the combat veterans.

(I was standing 20 meters in front of a guy who blew through a 30 round mag with his AK-47--I was well within the 30 degree cone and felt the overpressure and "whiz" of the bullets going past me.  It's a fascinating experience that I would *not* recommend unless you have *absolute trust* in the guy behind you!)

I just avoid public ranges entirely.

BLM land FTW.

I will only shoot at untended ranges.  There is a local range that's really nice--but they have this "1 round every 3 second" rule that is completely pointless if I'm trying to train interdiction techniques (where you put two in the chest, one in the head, within one second).

I have no idea what "BLM land" means....

Thankfully, my state is open-carry.  Although I have my CCW, I like others at the range to *see* that I've got a pistol on my belt when I have thousands of dollars in hardware on the bench, in case they get any "silly ideas"...

BLM  is likely the acronym for "Bureau of Land Management "

Ahhh... thanks!  :)

I am working on getting my own land.  I hate relying on the government for anything.  Any government big enough to give you all that you want is strong enough to take away all that you have.

Yeah, there's a range in the next town that has a range officer, and silly rules like that are why I'm leery of it.  On the one hand, it theoretically means there's someone there to make sure no one shoots me in the head.  On the other hand, it's more likely he'll just be there to call the cops after they do it, and in the meantime run about powertripping and trying to "help" me shoot.

I bought an AK-101 for a reason goddamnit, and it wasn't to shoot like it's a goddamn sniper rifle.

BLM = Bureau of Land Management, aka, public land.  Shooting on it's plenty legal, and there's lots of it in my area, so basically any random stretch of public land with some trees to set up targets on becomes a shooting range all to my own.

So long as some jackass farmer isn't grazing illegally on it, anyway.

We have a state park nearby that has an untended range.  I like going there--but anytime around deer season, it's pointless...

Thankfully, a buddy of mine just purchased 30 acres and we're setting up a private range there.

I'd still rather have my own, though...  *sigh*

This clip/magazine trivia is EXACTLY the kind of useless tidbit that the OCD guy in our group LOVES to bring up during game... bringing everything to a screeching halt as we pretend to be interested because we're all too polite to tell him we don't give a crap.

Did the "rpg" in rpgsite turn into "rocket-propelled grenade"?!
Thank god this thread wasn't about a story-game or Pundit would have moved it to the appropriate sub-board.  *rollseyes*
