This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

My Gamescience dice are shit.

Quote from: Planet Algol;507898I'm terrified of metal dice; I just imagine them being hellishly loud while putting dents in the tabletop.

I have a very heavy metallic D20. I love the THUNK sound it makes when it lands on my wood table.  However, after the initial novelty I've tended to use it less than my regular dice; I don't know why.

Quote from: HombreLoboDomesticado;507985I wonder where the idea came from that dice have to actually roll in order to randomize. I just shake them around in my hands and then put them down on the table surface without rolling, randomized. The supposed "accuracy" of the dice doesn't even matter that way.

In fact, the proper way to randomize dice rolls is with a dice cup, a la backgammon.

I don't think it really matters if you use your hands instead of a dice cup. If it does, then there should also be gamescience dice cups available, for more random randomization without rolling.

The whole gamescience gimmick doesn't address any relevant issue, really.

Ok, I'll probably never use a dice tower, but that is the best dice tower I've seen.  How much did that cost?

That is very nice looking and looks incredibly unwieldy. No place for essential charts, and while the players can read the dice out to you, the DM can't use the dice tower themselves without moving? For $165? Couldn't you just by a cool lego castle for that much?

Planet Algol

Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

I didn't know before I looked, but you can find dice cups for sale on Amazon.com. I think I'll pick up a couple.

Surely you need a GameScience dice tower for proper randomization. ;)

What a ridiculous monstrosity. Are there scifi-appropriate versions of those as well?

Just don't HIT the table with them :P.

Metallic dice do more damage when you throw them than plastic ones. Fact.

Not that I know off...  Yeah, it is kind of large...LOL

The owner of the game store did not intend to buy it and therefore I bought it so he could sleep better at night otherwise it would still be there...
