Drohem

We're looking for a few more players for a 5e Talislanta game which is going to be played over Skype.  Currently, we have three people (GM and 2 players).  Thus far, we have a Dracartan Scout and a Yassan Technomancer in the group.

We are meeting weekly on Mondays at 9:00 CST.

Please either post here or PM me with any questions.

Sounds fun, wish I had played Talislanta. :)

Why not download the free PDFs and play it?  Talislanta for free blows away Exalted for free one hundred fold.

I think he said 5th ed. You can't really go wrong with any of them, though.

Unless by 9 CST Drohem means they begin playing down under during early morning, us folks on the other side of the planet won't have much of a chance to join.

Yeah, the time thing can be a deal.  So far, all three of us have different time zones (EST, CST, and MST).

@ Werekoala:
The 4th edition (big blue) is generally considered the best version.  (Personally, my favorite is somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd editions).

Although, the Path System of the 5th edition is pretty cool too.

You couldn't nudge it back a bit? :D

So I can use whatever version? That's wierd (but again, I know nothing of Talislanta) - is the core mechanic the same, and the editions just change some of the details?

Which would you suggest? I like Lifepath type generation, so maybe 5th?

Yes, all of Talislanta is free to the gaming community so you can download and use whichever edition you like.  The major break in editions is between the 3rd and 4th editions.  Prior to the 4th edition, character advancement could be done through purchasing an overall character level or individual bonuses to skills and abilities.  4th edition removes the class level concept and character advancement is done strictly through purchasing bonuses in skills.

I would start with the 4th edition, and then look at the 5th edition.  The changes are minor, namely in magic, spells, and Life Path system.

Talislanta is the original 'D20 System' in that the core mechanic for all editions is based solely on a single d20 roll.

Would Tuesday or Wednesday work for you at that time?

Tuesday would. Even if I visit friends (which I usually do.) I could likely get online.

Wednesday is another taekwondo night (6-9cst)

If you can move it--what character races would fit, in or out of the immediate region?  What is the tone of the game you are aiming for?  (Heroic, Scoundrels, villains, etc...?)

Oh wait, not using IRC, skype...Yeah likely I wouldn't visit my friends then--since I can't talk to them and the game at the same time.

Yeah, I think we will be able to move to Tuesday night if you can play.

Right now, I'm playing a Dracartan Scout and Erik is playing a Yassan Technomancer.  So, it looks like a desert game.  We're still in the beginning phase, so the tone is still open.  I don't think that we're going to go for any serious villainy, but some grey moral ground might be cool.  Both the Yassan and Dracartan are veterans of the Dracartan military.  The Yassan was in a siege weapon unit, and my Dracartan was a Hussar and Scout before mustering out.

PM with an email address and I'll hook us all up through email.

Had fun last night, thanks for the invite. It was nice to "meet" Dro and Silverlion. We've got quite a motley crew of characters, in every sense of the phrase. I can see why the caravan master didn't have a problem with us wandering out into the desert for a few days... :)
