[Interest] DCC RPG?

Any interest in a DCC RPG PbP?

I have the rules, the funky dice, and DCC #66.5 Doom of the Savage Kings, and would love to get a game going. We'll start with Portal as it looks like a lot of fun. If that goes well I'll either knock up another 0 lvl funnel, or just level up the survivors and take a run at Savage Doom.

I don't mind if you don't own, or know the rules it's simple enough. I also don't mind if you've read, ran, or played in either of the adventures (as long as you don't spoil any surprises for those that haven't).

Portal requires 15 Funnel Fodder lvl 0 characters, so how many each player needs depends on how many players we get. Feel free to use the purple sorcerer 0 lvl character generator, but I'd prefer it if you posted the finished characters as text, in the this thread, rather than just sling me a link to the sheet. I'd also prefer it if peeps rolled up their funnel fodder characters if they actually own the game and have time.

Once the game starts I'll do all the rolling as it speeds up PbP gameplay.

So, any interest?

Tommy Brownell

I have the rules, haven't read any adventures.

I'll give it a go. Figure I can post daily, but not until the evenings (Central time).

Weru

Excellent. Just need a few more now.

I notice further down the forum there was a recruitment for a game that didn't seem to start. Maybe some of the players that were keen to play that game might want to jump into this one.

beermotor

I'll play. I'm active all over the place and I've run Portal, but it was a good long while ago and you can always muck with the traps and stats and timing and stuff to screw with me. /shrug

Silverlion

I'd play, but right now I'm dealing with some stuff that might cut interaction down to near nothing. Of course, I'm not a huge fan of PBP preferring IRC/Skype games.

@beermotor: Cool. I probably won't change anything as I want to play Portal as is, but like I said I don't running for players who already know it. I figure with funnel fodder those that know the adventure will just play even more recklessly and mess with shit they know is trouble.

@Silverlion: I'd like to run something via G+ hangouts eventually, but I'm having tech problems with the mic set-up on my new chomebook so that options out for now.

Okay, we have two players. One or two more and we're good to go.

Weru

No one else interested? Just need one or two more players.

Modric

I have the DCC book, bu have never played. I am interested in trying.

Excellent. It's doable with three players. That'd be 5 funnel characters each. Hopefully we'll get another player.

In the meantime if you, Beermotor, and tommy want to whip up five 0 lvl characters each and post 'em here that'd be great.

Fantastic. I've had four since you mentioned it...I'll get a fifth and start posting them soon.

Rahab is a young woman who's been on her own for as long as she can remember. Without any formal education or parents to care for her, she was enslaved by first one terrible master and then another, but she's bright enough, and lucky enough, to have escaped each time. She uses what feminine charms she has to keep some clothes on her back and food in her stomach, but she's too bright to be satisfied with the life of a harlot and yearns for more ... particularly power to shape her own destiny.

Thurl the Keen-eyed is a studious elf who makes candles for a living. Frequently used as a spotter by hunting parties, he's never been much of the physical type, and instead longs to bury his nose in a book and study. He hopes to connect with a powerful patron to advance his magical studies some day soon.

Dominic is a big man, though not tall: just 5 foot and a half, but over 250 pounds... so he's quite round. This makes him quite slow in getting around. He's a great cook though (which explains his girth) and enjoys his job as an ostler but dreams of opening his own tavern some day, and needs the funds to do it.

Arik is outgoing (for a dwarf) and enjoys mining, minerals, and stone of all types. He needs alcohol to get through the day, however. He has a keen mechanical sense. He absolutely detests pigs.

Rock is enormous, beefy, and surprisingly good looking. He's also very nearly a simpleton, and he cannot read or write, hence his mother's naming of him ("that boy's as dumb as a ..."). He wears a scavenged suit of hide armor and wields a longsword someone gave him once, and travels around doing odd jobs requiring his prodigious physical strength or guileless stupidity, or both. The gleam of treasure, even its mere description, is often too much for Rock to resist...

Weru

Nice. Some potential good 1st level characters if they survive.

beermotor

Yeah, I once had a guy with 18 Agi, 15 Str, and every other stat 13 or 14. It was nuts. I named him Kent Clarke. He was going to be the goodiest-goody paladin/knight type.

Needless to say, he did not make it to level 1.

So, heh, stats are nice but rarely make that much of a difference. What I'm more interested in when rolling via the Purple Sorcerer thing is a decent "prime" stat and an interesting combination/synergy with the Lucky Roll. Rahab was the one I had my eye on, although the Elf and Dwarf aren't terrible, either.

The big dumb warrior is probably just comic relief. :-) But, ya never know, maybe he'll live.

Weru

Yeah, the luck roll can be quite annoying when it doesn't line up with the more obvious class the stats are hinting at.
