This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What games do you wish you were playing right now?

Too many to list, probably.  At the moment, I'd love to play in:

Unknown Armies - for system and setting
Spirit of the Century - to get a feel from a player POV
Dread: The First Book of Pandemonium - because, really, who doesn't want to be able to cast a spell that lets you strangle someone with your own viscera...?

'Cause I'd really like to see how it plays in a tabletop game.  I've seen PBPs and it looks interesting, but sadly like most PBPs they flicker out fairly quickly...
Tell me about it...

Running Engel might be nice, but I don't really have time right now to revise the mechanics into something more convenient than the clunky d20 variant used in the English translation, or to put enough effort into the campaign background. Still, since I only ever GM games that I really like, anyway, that really isn't much of a problem.

I've got a hankering for a Firefly/Serenity game.
In a Meta-PBP thread at big purple, a couple of folks expressed an interest in a WW2 Spec-Ops game. This has piqued my interest too and I'm currently researching with the idea of possibly putting together a PbP. (Though seeing as my carefully thought out & detailed CP2020 PbP game there died within 6 posts, I'm probably just asking for trouble) :deflated:

1. The Burning Wheel--I've just scratched the surface of this one with a couple games, and I'd like to try it out for a campaign. I have an idea for high-fantasy spacefaring thing. If you don't call it Spelljammer, it won't be Spelljammer.

2. Castle Falkenstein--when the group I had playing this broke up, I had elaborately set up a campaign where the PCs where a circle of Victorian criminal masterminds. The super-scientist leader, Dr. Satan, was a sort of evil Doc Savage, and the other PCs were his inner circle of thugs, theives, and murderers. Dr. Satan had, over the course of a year of play, developed a personality reversal ray, and had hatched a plot to turn it on England's most influential, including Her Majesty herself.

Unfortunately, a gaggle of do-gooders thwarted Dr. Satan, overloaded his machine, and turned it upon him, abandoning him to the inevitable explosion. The redoubtable McSeamus, a leprechaun Dr. Satan had offended in a prior scheme, anonymosly rescued the now-benevolent Dr. and arranged with the faerie realm to deliver Dr. Satan tomorrow's newspaper every morning.

Dr. Satan, now motivated to change the unfortunate stories (a la Early Edition) cannot solicit help from the authorities. They might not place great faith in his unusual change of heart. He must turn to his old inner circle, but if they perceive his change of heart, they'll tear him limb from limb. The idea being that Dr. Satan must hatch an "evil" plan, coordinate his henchman, then provoke a series of "mishaps" that result in the story working out.

It was all so perfect for that group--now scattered to the four corners of the earth. But I do really, really wish I was playing that game right now.

3. Wooden Suits and Iron Men--I'd like to take this old Victorian Mechwarrior and stat it out for some really crunchy system, like Hero or GURPS.
Employment Counselor: So what do you like to do outside of work?
Oblivious Gamer: I like to play games: wargames, role-playing games.
EC: My cousin killed himself because of role-playing games.
OG: Jesus, what was he playing? Rifts?

Burning Wheel notSpellJammer would be insanely fun.

There's two games I'd like to be playing, but trying to find players for these would be devastatingly hard.

(1) C&S (initially first ed, but then perhaps moving to 3rd) and (2) Swordbearer.

Heavy Gear (or Armoured Trooper Votoms) - would really like to play in the HG setting. Alternatively wouldn't mind a game using RTG's Votoms rules since it's my favourite anime series.

In Harm's Way - long time fan of the various novels and movies inspired by the Hornblower series. I played in a long running Privateers and Gentlemen campaign some years back and would like to try out In Harm's Way. And reading the Sharpe series has got me bugging Clash Bowley to do a land-based supplement.

Star Wars d6 - been watching Star Wars movies with my daughters recently. Got a hankering for some space action.

Gundam (Mekton Zeta) - used to play a lot of mecha games using Mekton II and Zeta. I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Gundam Mekton rules since it was announced several years ago.

Castle Falkenstein - always been keen on this setting, never found anyone interested in playing in it :(

Castles & Crusades - wouldn't mind some old school goodness using a cohesive game mechanic. Could settle for a Rules Cyclopedia game.

1)HackmasterCause it's fun and I didn't get to play enough of it.

2)Birthright2nd Edition AD&D: Would like to finish up the freaking campaign. Ah, Tuornen, we had the best beer........

3)The Night Below2nd Edition AD&D: We 'paused' halfway through....... I want to know what happens next, damn it!

4)Call of Cthulhu Only got to play this game twice...... I crave more.

5)Paranoia I've always loved the black humour and it's one of the few games where character death is just as fun as everything else.

My D&D homebrew!

Just finished a target number assignment system that puts 3e and C&C to shame. To shame, I say! And the best part is that it exactly parallels the hit tables in Men & Magic.

And many others. I like almost all games. :)

Uhm...  I hate to be the one to tell you, but you can quit waiting.  RTal pissed away the license.

Which makes me sad too, because I was eagerly waiting for it as well.

A long-term, open-ended, sky's-the-limit, free-wheeling game of Planescape.

Ohhh, that sounds like fun.

Always wanted to try it, but never got around to buying the setting. Damn Torment for making it look all neat and weird......

Torment is cool, but only scratches the surface.

Run - right now - to eBay and try to find some old Planescape stuff.  Start with the first boxed set, then go to Planewalker's Handbook and A Guide to the Astral Plane; that should get you started.  It's some beautiful stuff...

Spike

Right now I'm running the game I want to run, but I wouldn't mind adding something sci-fi ish.  Serenity as rules maybe, or a GURPS game at TL 10-11 ish.  Heavy Gear maybe...  I'm easy, I could name a few others I'd run.

I'd REALLY like to play however.

Top of the list has got to be (has always been...) SLA Industries. Never met another player in person.

Other than that, in any order...

A GURPS game (pref. high tech.... but not necessary)
Shadowrun 4
Cyberpunk 2020
L5R
Heavy Gear (eh, anything I'm willing to run, really....)
Maurader 2107
Mutant Chronicles

Hell, I'd play Burning Empires, just to take it for a spin.

And desperately waiting for 40k the RPG....
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.
