Frankly, I think if the level of discourse has arrived at funny cat pictures (not the same as LOLCats), that's a lot more enjoyable than most of the back-and-forth I've had re: WotC, 4e, Pathfinder, etc.

Nevermind. I almost punched a Pathfinder fan in the throat last week...I suppose fights at GEN CON over games are well within the realm of possibility.

Actually...this bears further explanation...because it was surreal.

I was at the local gamestore flipping through books in the RPG section...when this gamer kid saunters over to me...you know the type: buttrock pony tail, 4 inches of pubic hair hanging from his chin, pasty complexion, smells like BO, old spice and taco bell, idiosyncratic hat, black trenchcoat with some metal band's patch on the back.

Anyway, the guy informs me that Dark Sun is coming out this month...I nod politely. He asks me what I like better...4E or Pathfinder.  I say that I prefer 4E (this was a mistake, in retrospect. I should have said "Shadowrun" or something. It was obvious that this wasn't going to be a productive chat from the get go)

So then he blurted out the typical: "4E sucks...blahblahblah...WoW...blahblahblah...No Lawful Evil...blahblahblah".

And so I ask him if his sole purpose in talking to me was to antagonize me about a game that I play...I then informed him that this wasn't a good tact for making new friends.

He then stated that he and his friends make it a point to convert people away from 4E because no one should be playing it.

Typical edition war crap, I know. But the really weird part? The book I was flipping through at the time was The Dresden Files RPG. Which isn't even kept in the same aisle as 4E books.

Well it did happen, but I don't think it had anything to do with gaming.
