Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). GET OUT OF MY GAME!!!

Ok, is there anything(s) a player could do that, as a GM, you would jsut stand up and say "GET OUT OF MY GAME!!!" to him?

Seriously, I've ran into some issues, and I can see some issues, that would make me just instantly tell someone to get the fuck out of my game and stay out, and one reason is bacause I've seen games ruined by them and the people who do them.

Here are just some things that would make me eject a player or potential player at once:

If the guy wants to play a nazi, get the fuck away from me. Now I might let someone play, say a former nazi, maybe someone who grew up under nazi indoctrination somewhere but was rejecting nazi values, that kind of character I'd at least give a chance to.

If a player decides to rape and murder a female NPC in detail for whatever reason. I've seen this done by players who justified it under a variety of means, but the players were universally sick fucks who I would not want in my game.

If a player decided to dominate the game and make all other PCs subject to his domination. Actually in a good game group I wouldn't have to boot the player, the other players would rip him and his character sheet to shreds. If the other players were actually letting him control them, I'd "withdraw in disgust" from the game.

What would make you toss a player? And please, let's take extremely bad hygeine as a given, no need to turn this into a "I hate catpissman" thread like those that are so prolific on rpg-fucking-net

Pretty much the same stuff that would make me say "Get out of my cocktail party."  Player-to-player social-level stuff.

Someone wants to play a Nazi?  Coooool.  That'll be ugly and conflict-laden, and that's a good thing for games that profit by addressing conflicts.

The graphic rape?  How does that even happen?  Someone else says "Okay, and we fade to black," and either it ends or else the guy's ignoring clear-cut social cues to talk about taboo topics.  See "Get out of my cocktail party," above :D

Trying to dominate the other PCs?  See "conflict laden fun," above.

Anybody mentions the term "Conflict resolution" and I kick em right the fuck out.
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)

There's very little in character stuff that would make me kick someone out. Only the ones that would also generate out of character problems will do it: unwarranted PvP, rampant theft from other party members, etc. Of course, if the game is designed to work that way (Paranoia for instance) then the kid gloves come off.

Consistently arguing over and harping on triviliaties - that is, holding up the game in a deliberate and annoying way.

Aside from that, someone being very personally offensive, whether simply insulting and nasty, or racist, etc. But as far as I can remember, that's never happened. Anyone that bad, it showed before the first session.

Theoretically, what happens in the game should stay in the game.  But "in character" shenanigans is often just an excuse for someone to be a fuck-knuckle.  "Oh, it's not me being a pain in the arse, it's my character".  My tolerance for that sort of crap is pretty low.  Even before it starts to generate out of character problems, my arsehole senses start to tingle.  I've never kicked someone out for that sort of behaviour, but I have terminated games.  'Cos really, I don't like to play with fuck-knuckles.  Yeah, call me crazy :)

I've never actually kicked anyone out for any kind of behavior either. The social sphincter that forms around that kind of crap always does plenty of pushing.

That's true, about "but it's just my character!"

Also, between "I kick them out NOW" and "I'll game with them forever" is a whole range of thoughts and feelings...

For example, there could be
  • someone you're happy to play game X with, but not game Y
  • someone who you enjoy as a GM, but not a player, or vice versa
  • someone who's good when they're with player A, but terrible when not, or vice versa
  • someone you're willing to finish the current campaign with, but not game again
and so on.

That's a beautiful analogy, man. And I say that as a guy very fond of analogies. Fucking beautiful!

Thanks. It's my one cool phrase per month, so I'm glad someone noticed it. :)

I kicked myself out of a game once. Does that count?

The primary GM was outright cheating in a multi-GM online arena. All GMs had characters, which worked fine because of the multi-GM format (I was a GM too). At one point out of curiosity for the character's unbeaten record I checked out the primary GM's main character. It was riddled with mistakes, rules gaffs, and outright insanity. When I mentioned it to him he said "the other GMs should have caught it" and refused to change anything.

It wasn't the only thing that went wrong in that game, but it was definitely the push that started my ball rolling out the door.

He heh, "Fuck knuckles". heh heh. Never heard that one before. May i assume it's a contraction of "Fucking knuckle walkers/draggers"?

Good one, whatever it is..

Oh, btw, you're crazy. ;)

I assume it has to do with jerk-offs. The guys that fuck their knuckles.

Ahh, good one. Altho "knucklefuckers" might be better for that particular image...

But Nox – it's a good old Anglo-Saxon formation! Cf. cutpurse, pickpocket etc.
