This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I bought me the boxed set.

And I was told to buy the Players Guide.

I bought the players guide, and I was told to go on the internet.

Still, no encounter tables!

What kind of shit is this!?

I have to make my own encounter tables?
What moronic concept is that?

I paid twice to get "old school" goodness.

But not one encounter table, that matches the areas!

But I was told to buy the Tomes of Horror.

Fuck you, Judges Guild!

If anybody already came up with encounter tables, I´m DMing in Elphand Lands right now. I´d greatly appreciate any help or pointers.

Settembrini: if you have the 1e AD&D DMG, the appendices there should do the job nicely. Alternatively, PM me and I will try to send you a translation of my own encounter charts (but that's a bit iffy since I use a good number of non-standard monsters of my own make, and don't run 3e).

Investing in the Tome of Horrors, however, should be mandatory for any 3.* DM wishing to run an old school campaign. Blame WotC for not including classic monsters in their core products.

[edit: Necromancer Games also put out The Mother of All Encounter Tables as a separate product. These charts were originally intended for inclusion in the WL boxed set. That, however, has monsters from the Tome of Horrors and the Creature Collection!]

Thanks for your offer! And thanks for the clarification.
I´ll pay for the pdfs from Judges Guild via Drivethrough.

Although I feel cheated by them, and their Wilderlands-hype, I do not wish to cause you that much work. Somebody did it

I have seen it in game stores, but I am not really into board games. Except the odd session of chess with dice.

Dude, making your own encounter tables is the epitome of "old school".

True. But having them made for you in the book so you don't have to is also the epitome of "old school".
