This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

For me it's the Yes album

What album takes your mind to gaming?

I'm sitting here working on a gaming project and I'm listening to Starship trooper from the Yes Album.
My earliest memories of gaming (1978 ) are linked to this song and this entire album-1st edition AD&D and Traveller.

Good times.

I never really listened to music while gaming...however, the only time I really did was for a CoC adventure. I wanted to use a jazz album but couldn't find one...settled for Jagged Little Pill album...very poor sub but we just stated it was an okay bar singer in the background.
It is unbecoming for young men to utter maxims.

Divinity - an RPG where players become Gods and have to actually worry about pleasing their followers.

The Conan Soundtrack, Rush, a little bit of Blue Oyster Cult--any of those will do the trick.  Hearing songs from Lord of the Rings as well, obviously.

I was in highschool at the time and some of my crowd were heavily into "progressive rock" -Yes, Rush, etc. We also used to read a lot of Moorcock and Robert E Howard, I think the guy who did a lot of the Yes album art also did a lot of Elric posters back then, so it all swam together in a drug induced haze- Prince Corum on his mighty moth, flying through the air to the strains of Starship trooper.

I'm a respectable husband and father now. But if they ever legalize Kona Gold, the prince will fly again...

I got into roleplaying games in the mid-80's but those were my preteen years and I wasn't much into music.  I didn't have a music/rpg connection until the 90's when I was big into White Wolf and the album that best exemplifies that period for me is Ministry's Psalm 69.

I didn't get into prog-rock until a few years ago, but as a gamer with a sense of history about the hobby, the prog/rpg connection is still obvious and still very cool to experience.

Yeah, me too- but I still fly the psychadellic skies from time to time.

Meh. I don't have any music/gaming associations at all, despite the fact that my first gaming group were all musician buddies. Music was music and gaming was gaming.
