This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Do you embrace the random?

I see what you did there.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

No. What I demonstrated is that there are various ways to reach the unexpected. And various ways to have fun.

Something you demonstrate to miss repeatedly on this forum.

This is why I never fudge, and in fact I always roll out in the open having already stated what the numbers are. I enjoy the suspense and excitement this generates at the table and as the GM I enjoy not knowing what is going to happen next. Randomness is a good thing.

I also think that the tactile qualities of the dice play a big part in this enjoyment, which is one reason I would never want to use dice rolling apps or play online.
Buy Other Worlds, it\'s a multi-genre storygame excuse for an RPG designed to wreck the hobby from within

I don't think you can fairly criticise silva for mentioning offhand a game he likes when responding directly to the topic of discussion.

Especially as it's now officially considered a full fat RPG! :p

Well, then it's a good thing my comment had exactly zero to do with the games he mentioned.

Seriously, haven't you noticed I don't give a red piss about the storygame/rpg divide here? I understand why the Pundit does it, but that's the chip on his fucking shoulder, not mine, and honestly I don't care what goes in what forum, 'cause if it's a subject I'm interested in, I'll discuss it wherever it is. The only time I care is when a thread goes pear-shaped because the storygame crusaders can't fucking shut the hell up about their butthurt over it.

No, my comment is directed at silva's usual lame tactic, in this case taking Maliszewski's comment entirely out of context and suggesting that it supports his keyboard diarrhea, which is pretty much par for the course for that lying fucking troll.

OK mate, I didn't say anything about the storygame/RPG divide or the like. I don't know the context of you and him, your response in this thread seemed a bit strong that's all. :idunno:

Then to what are you referring here if not Apocalypse World?

I cited Apocalypse World together with Gurps and Shadowrun.

The fact that Vulmea got pissed at it only proves thats he is the one who have a crusade against certain games.

One Horse Town

AW still goes in other games, guys. It's only DW that got moved over.

Do you know they are practically the same game, and that Dungeon World is a Apocalypse World hack, dont you ?

I don't give a fuck what it is, although i suspect it's got something to do with fucking to magic-up cans of petrol.

Anyway, congrats, you've derailed another thread to talk about your hobby-horse. Stop that.

Nope. Just cited some games that gave me the "unexpected" that Krueger tried to defend only "Old School" could. And I will repeat: it was Gurps, Shadowrun and Apocalypse World.

Now,

If the citation of games you guys dont like is enough for you (Vulmea, in this case) to come out and whine like a baby, thats not my problem. I dont like D&D, but I dont whine everytime someone cites it around here. I just ignore it - Is that so hard for you to do the same ? :)

RPGPundit

Quote from: silva;679819Do you know they are practically the same game, and that Dungeon World is a Apocalypse World hack, dont you ?

DW is to storygames what "D&D Monopoly" is to D&D. It takes only the most shallow window-dressing facade but its really just an RPG.  People playing it are no more playing a storygame (however much the Swine who play it want to imagine they are) than someone playing D&D Monopoly are playing 3e (regardless of how much they might wish to tell themselves they're not just playing monopoly with different little figures and street names).

So the fact that it took the window-dressing from AW means nothing to me. AW is a storygame, DW is an RPG pretending to be a storygame pretending to try to fool gamers into thinking they're playing an RPG when they're actually playing a storygame, except they're not. Whew!
