This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Werekoala;358038Wow, guess I must have missed that somewhere. Whatcha doin' in Malaysia? Also, remind me not to go there for drugs and hookers anytime soon.

Werekoala, I'm Malaysian.

In the interest of promoting tourism, please come here for our drugs and hookers...just don't get caught. And let's face it, you have to be pretty stupid to get caught (and you don't seem like the stupid kind)

Oh. Well, nice to meet you formally. Between the name and the Viggo Mortenson avatar I didn't peg you for Malaysian. :o

I'm in Texas, which no doubt explains a lot.

It's just that Viggo is such a cool motherfucker.

"There's no excuse to be bored. Sad, yes. Angry, yes. Depressed, yes. Crazy, yes. But there's no excuse for boredom, ever."

"I have never been in a natural place and felt that was a waste of time. I never have. And it's a relief. If I'm walking around a desert or whatever, every second is worthwhile."

"I think that people who get to a certain position, and then try to ferociously defend it or build on it, it's kind of a dead-end street. You see people becoming miserable that way."

Is that Viggo?
I always thought it was that guy off of Sopranos.

It's funny how I have a hard time not picturing folks as being like their avatars... I really do expect the Pundit to be Bill the Butcher and I do picture a fuzzy little Koala typing away at it's keyboard.

My avatar is, however, completely accurate.

Mine too. Miau :)

Enough offtopic, you guys make me laugh :D
Play Western City! Hooray for Supernatural :D

Werekoala

For the record, I've had the nickname "Werekoala" for going on 25 years now (good god I can't believe I typed that) and the reason I chose one sticking its tongue out at you is that I don't take you too seriously, and you shouldn't take ME too seriously.

Non-native English speaker question: If someone takes you seriously, does it mean without KY jelly?

Worth pointing out that punishing psychopaths is useless, as they generally fail to appreciate why they are being punished (this is, by the way, is related to why they are unable to be rehabilitated). The only reason to keep them locked up is specific deterrence. Whether it's in a comfortable room or an uncomfortable room is primarily a question of how much we wish to imitate the unreasonable and unempathetic behaviour of a psychopath.

Also "People who commit murder should be killed" is retarded and self-contradictory. Who would agree to be an executioner if that principle were applied consistently?

State-sanctioned executions are not considered murder in the eyes of the law. So that argument fails.

State-sanctioned killing (like executions and murders in battle by soldiers) are the very inconsistencies I was pointing to. They are sanctioned by the state simply because they are useful to it, not because they are any more morally laudable than other murders.
