So apparently Something Awful and some 4e nuts are claiming they were the ones who leaked the file? Anyone been able to confirm this or not?

Certainly the first people I saw leaking pages or other information were using it to attack the game. It's only when it reached a wider circulation that it has been used to drum up excitement.

Of course, there may well be more than one leak.

It would sure seem par for the course for the Goons if they did in fact leak the PHB to attack it, only to have it drum up excitement instead :)
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.
