This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: 1989;559619As usual, the local game store (up here in Canada) has the books overpriced, with the DMG at $52, and the others at $41 or so.

We Canadians get screwed for pricing. No matter what.

It's because you guys have a reputation for being so laid back and cool. You need to start collectively kicking some ass to get more respect and lower prices. :p
Quote from: JonWakeGamers, as a whole, are much like primitive cavemen when confronted with a new game. Rather than \'oh, neat, what\'s this do?\', the reaction is to decide if it\'s a sex hole, then hit it with a rock.

Quote from: Old Geezer;724252At some point it seems like D&D is going to disappear up its own ass.

D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Well, guess I have something to add to my X-mas Wish List.
Quote from: dragoner;776244Mechanical character builds remind me of something like picking the shoe in monopoly, it isn\'t what I play rpg\'s for.

Check them out on Amazon.ca. It usually has the books from WOTC (and others) at a significant discount.

Quote from: thedungeondelver;559593Appendices O & P were added after the 2nd printing.

On or about p.40 is a tiny Erol Otus illustration of a magic user and undead creature zapping each other simultaneously.

On or about page 62 is the chart that has caused so many headaches, the surprise chart.  Does it look like the fix on the Acaeum or is it different?

All of the things you mentioned are there.  I have no idea if it looks like "the fix on the acaeum, because I don't know what that is".

Wait... are you in Edmonton?

Or are all Canadian game stores price-jackers?

The latter can't be true, I always found prices were ok in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto...

Yes.

Quote from: Rum Cove;559736Yes.

I will second that answer.

Fuck this old man toga party.  Are the books worth trying to get from your FLGS? Or straight buy?
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Far as I know it's FLGS, but I'm sure Noble Knight will stock up.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Thanks CK! I am on it today. :) Bit too much money but fuck it. I really want the DMG. The PHB would be total bonus.  MM? I prefer the MC.:)
