Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

More gaming battle report comics from me!

This time it is AT 43.  With luck my descriptions of the rules are correct.  Either way we had fun, and its a good way to show the basics of how the game works compared to 40K.

I am not quite sure what those little grey side bubbles are coming from, I think its a flaw in the current version of Comic Life.

very cool report, thanks for posting!  love the style!

Thanks!  But there was a big rules gaffe.  Tiamat when she Body Hacks, replaces the ENTIRE unit with an Overseer.  If she dies and the Therian player has an LP left the closest Therian unit with an Overseer gets bumped or Tiamat won't show up again.

Very "Matrix" agent she is.  Course the Therians have a serious Matrix robots vibe about them so I wouldn't doubt if it wasn't a major influence on the army design.

We picked up a couple of the boxed sets for school but the rules didn't really appeal. We liked the figures though, so they're being used for Fast & Dirty along with every other 28mm figure we can find.

Captain Rufus

Except my little comic shows why AT 43 is awesome and far superior to some fan made minis game some RPGnetter made.*

Meaning its not emotionally safe, LGBT friendly, or has keetooms or uses the non word "teh" in any manner, genuine or unironic.

Also, no X-Pack, dancing nuclear hamsters, Exalted fetish, Munchausen Syndrome people.

It does however have giant powered armored gorillas who have a giant Death Star like Dyson Sphere thing named Zaius.

*Which may actually be a good game but I could give a shit.  And the local gaming scene could care even less than I do.

Joshua Ford

And you have of course tried Fast and Dirty (as I've tried AT-43) before you start spouting shit? The author routinely pimps them in Other Games Open but why not? They're a decent set where you can stat any miniature - they're free (for the moment) and those I play with like them.

See? I'll even provide a link http://www.freewebs.com/weaselfierce/

I prefer a game system where I can bring in lots of minis - I've been collecting 28mm for over 20 years now. I like some WH40K figures but don't like the rules, I've got VOID, AT-43, Future Wars and other ranges in the mix.

I like to create my armies and their histories rather than picking up something too pre-packaged. Those gorillas you've got are exactly the same as anyone else's gorillas and their stats are determined by the game's designers. I just prefer more latitude in developing things - it's horses for courses.

I've said it before - I'm sorry that you have to buy the shiny so the people at your store will play with you. Some of us are more fortunate in having people willing to try other systems.

I did this comic to show what I like about AT 43 while also doing something fun and creative.
I wasn't interested in hearing about an RPGnetter's freeware minis game.

Edit: I know you didn't mean any harm with your comment, but holidays plus our previous history ala the Arcane Legions thread made me a bit cranky.
Normally I would have just eyerolled it and moved on.  You just commented at a bad time.

Much like my Arcane Legions comic showing the game off and why I like it, you come in and sort of ruin things.

Please do me a favor and stay out of any threads I make.

LOL - well there'd be precious little discussion in them then wouldn't there?

I told you what I liked about AT-43, which is the figures. The fact that rpg.net has obviously pissed on your chips was unbeknown to me, but I'll bear in mind your delicate sensibilities.

Just stick me on your ignore list next time you start threads about a minis game but don't want it commenting on by me.

@ prepaints and heroscape terrain.

That makes you a professional wargamer that we should all listen to, I'm telling you.

Just FYI, AT43 sucks flying monkey balls.  You know it, I know it, and most other people who see your table will know it.

I love the oak finish on your table with the heroscape ice terrain.  That's fucking hilarious.

I'm going to use a game shop gift card o get the Oni battle box. Space zombie cyborgs. Zomborgs. They remind me of Eddie. I'm going to paint jean jackets and Iron Maiden logos on them. AT-43 is awesome.

I like the comic strip review format. I meant to tell you that on the Uncharted Seas review. It combines review, actual play, pictures and commentary in a pretty quick and efficient way.
Employment Counselor: So what do you like to do outside of work?
Oblivious Gamer: I like to play games: wargames, role-playing games.
EC: My cousin killed himself because of role-playing games.
OG: Jesus, what was he playing? Rifts?

Thanks for the report. :)

What's the movement like for those figs? I couldn't get a clear sense of how they moved on the tabletop.

I don't think the game took place at Captain Rufus' actually...

I actually quite like some of the AT-43 pre-paints from the starter set. They make decent Imperial Guard types.

Oh this is gonna be FUUUN.  (BTW, I reported you.  I may be highly annoyed at some things J Ford says, but he is at least rational and CIVIL.  And as will be seen. HE CAN AT LEAST READ.)

Let us take it from the top, shall we?

As we all know, you have Games Workshop's cock thrust deeply down your throat, spreading its hot cum into your stomach.

Why you wish to white knight a company even most Warhammer 40K and Fantasy players consider to suck ass is beyond me.  But we have your credentials in check.  And I have already chided one person on what I considered to be threadshitting in this thread.  (Which was more me being highly irritated as opposed to him genuinely being a douche.  You on the other hand? )

First off, you claim it is my table when if instead of trying to defend the most popular (albeit undeserved) miniatures wargame on the face of the planet with your fanboyism, you could have read why I like the game and a light explanation of some of its mechanics, and a couple sentences saying how we were playing at the THERIAN PLAYER'S HOUSE.  He does not have a dedicated wargaming setup.  We had some quick terrain from me (the always asskicking Heroscape terrain, which is both flexible AND portable) and his kitchen table.

I am sure he and his wife would be HAPPY to have an elite table if you wish to say send them a Citadel Realm of Battle or even that 30 dollar Citadel table cover thingie they just came out with.

Now on to prepaints:  I LIKE prepaints.  In fact, I fucking hate painting.  While I do not have much of a life, I do however have SHIT TO DO, and many varied interests.

I do paint, and in fact I shall show some of my paint jobs and thus it may explain why I like prepaints.  These painted models are FAR inferior to the main boxed set paint apps on AT 43 figures and most took me anywhere between 2-6 HOURS to paint when AT 43 boxes give me a fully painted vehicle or unit right out of the box.  All I need to do is add flock!

While not god awful, they are in general all mediocre at best.

That's time I could be spending doing more important things like.. masturbating.  Or chasing women so they can replace spankin it with something more fulfilling on every level.

I DO appreciate people who can paint up a storm and shit, but I play wargames to.. PLAY THE GAME, not the art project part.

Plus if I am to assemble models I would rather put some of these bitches together (most of which hardly even NEED paint to look at least decent.)

A couple overpriced toy soldiers, or the motherfucking MAZINGER?  I'd rather assemble the latter.

(And to answer any questions: No I am not selling any of you the models.  They are mine, mine I tell you!)

Now I suppose I should show what my gametable room looks like in action right?

I also have lots of Heroscape terrain, another blue sheet for naval combats, and a nice Hotz Mats space map for those outer space shenanigans.

But as to everyone saying AT 43 sucks?  Well, have you PLAYED IT?  What makes it suck compared to 40K?  What makes 40K so good?

The following people in fact like AT43: Me, Drew, Roy, Mike, Jay, Tunde, Cook guy, clerk at comic shop, other dude from comic shop.  That's just people I know and talk to.

But let's see what the scores are on Boardgamegeek?

6.83 out of 10 for 5th ed 40K. (311 ratings)
6.41 for 4th.
6.11 for 3rd ed.
6.52 for Rogue Trader.

So a 22 year old game with 5 editions and its best score is 6.83.

AT 43, in its FIRST edition with 329 ratings?

7.14.

So not only does it NOT SUCK and everyone says it does, but it outscores EVERY EDITION OF 40K.

That dick in your mouth?  Those balls on your chin?

THAT'S REAL.

You my bitch now.

And I play 40K, in fact I do so nearly every week.  I enjoy it.  But by NO means is it the best minis ruleset, or is the GW style of build and paint the only way to play with toy soldiers.

I have been playing 40K since 93-94 with 2nd edition.  I currently have Blood Angels (Pre Heresy World Eaters), Tyranids, Imperial Guard (Using AT 43 Red Blok), Chaos Space Marines, and Eldar forces.  I just sold off my Tau and Ork armies.

I had my first 40K book in 91 with Rogue Trader.  I remember it clearly as I got it right around the same time Terminator 2 was in theaters.  I was 17.  I didn't start playing till later when I found a friend who was into it and it got me to take the plunge on the 2nd ed box set.  I still have some of the marines as my Chaos Veterans.

My oldest 40K models include a beakie Techmarine, the original Chaos Dreadnought, the RT era Imperial Dreadnought, Chaos Squats, and RTB 01 plastic Beakies with the old plastic Chaos Backpacks.  I also have a Blood Slaughterer, 2 Armorcast Tempest Grav Tanks, the Cannon of Khorne, and the Cauldron of Blood (of Khorne.)

My miniatures game collection includes (Of various levels of stuff): Every edition of 40K including nearly every RT book except for Astronomican and Vehicle Manual, Titan Legions, Epic 40K, Warhammer Fantasy 3,5, 6, and 7, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Gorkamorka, Warzone 2nd ed, Clan Wars, Battletech, Silent Death, Chainmail, Field of Glory, Arcane Legions, Uncharted Seas, Heroscape, Heroclix, Horrorclix, Renegade Legion Leviathan & Centurion, AD&D Battlesystem 2, D&D Swords & Spells, Lord of the Rings, Starship Troopers, Warlord, D&D Miniatures, Star Wars Miniatures (WEG and WOTC CMG), Mechwarrior Dark Age, Mage Knight, Federation Commander, AT 43, Confrontation Ragnarok, Mekton 2, Warmachine, and whatever name that Hero Games mecha RPG/minis game was.

And if we add in more boargame and hex n chit games that use minis I have many more.

And I absolutely LOVE AT 43.  Its quite possibly my favorite miniatures game.

Unlike your poor pathetic sorry ass I have an open mind and aren't a raging fantard over a consumer product.  If you are so elite, make up a 40K thread showing your models, your gametable, your battle reports.

I'll even throw in a couple of my 40K comics.

Oh yeah, I also have full ops in a 30+ person 40K IRC channel.  We talk about other games all the time.  Hell, one of the other ops folks even changed the title recently to say we should all play other games given how GW fucked over the Blood Bowl Living Rulesbook fan writer who spent YEARS supporting a game GW let lay fallow.

Im sure we would love to hear how every other game is crappy other than your beloved 40K.  The Firestorm Armada fanbase will have a field day with you.  The Warmachine guys will too.

You know what's really shocking?

MOST OF US PLAY MULTIPLE MINIS GAMES.

Because unlike you, we are not all raging fucktards.

Thanks for this funfilled attempt at trolling though.  Has given me some fun proving you wrong.  Plus good content for my blog, once I clean up my language, change a few links to what Blogspot likes for pictures, and add in a little detail for the non RPGsite readers.

I'm thinking of titling it: 'Fun with Fanboys'.

One Horse Town

This thread sort of falls into the same catagory as Abyssal Maw's complaints about posters shitting on d&d 4e threads.

As such, sort it out yourselves, boys, but let's try to actually let people post about what they enjoy and resist the pathalogical need to shit on it. Unless it's obviously fucked up, of course.
