This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Poll] Would You Buy A New Edition of the Greyhawk CS?

So, that's the question:  if someone were to make a new edition of Greyhawk, would you pick it up, assuming the price is in the ballpark of what we see for (non-Ptolus) campaign setting?

And if you don't see your choice on the poll, click "Other", and explain below.

Also, what would you want in a new edition?  Fluff updates?  A reset?  As-is, just in greater detail?  Lots and lots of pretty maps?

I voted "Yes, regardless", but that'd be with the proviso I'd want to hear about any sort of setting changes beforehand.

I couldn't vote for both 4e and 3.x versions, so didn't vote. voted "other."

I'd only buy it if the mecahnics are strong and there's a lot of crunch. I've already got more fluff for settings (including Greyhawk) then I'll ever be able to use, so a book of that's primarily that wouldn't interest me at all.

Crap.  I meant to make it so you could vote for multiple options. I don't know if any of the ModAdmins can fix that or not.

Before I vote (to see if the admins can fix it), I just want to thank you and let you know I'm honored to be included.

Although, that could just be my ego and you could really be talking about the Yggsburgh/Dunfalcon from EGG....

Yup - might have to change the name...

i was going to vote "yes, any edition" but then thought about it.  a greyhawk CS with updated to 4e stuff would have to adjust for warlords, dragonborn, etc.  with that in mind, i had to say "other".  i'd get the greyhawk CS for any edition but 4e, and actually the more statless, the better.  more fluff, less crunch.

It's not your ego.  I've been following your project with marked interest. :)

I voted Dunfalcon! because if I'm going to buy Greyhawk, I want Gary Gygax Greyhawk.  (I think Dunfalcon is the Yggsburgh option, right?)

Although I'm not really looking to buy *any* campaign settings at the moment...

See? I'm going to have to change the name.  Honestly, I just found the existing Dunfalcon stuff this morning. And that's weird because I had done a bunch of searches when I got the domain name, which I do have...

No, Stuart - Zach's referring to my little mapping/d20 haven/living campaign effort, Dunfalcon. Sorry to disappoint....

Never liked Greyhawk. Found it boring and uninspired. I do have great memories as it was the first campaign setting I bought and used.

I have great memories of opening it up. All those little shields. The details. The map.

I already have 1e Greyhawk and the 3e Living Greyhawk thingamabob.

I don't see any way in which I need a new version, but I'd buy one for 4e... if I like 4e when it comes out, anyways.

My hands were shaking. I couldn't wait to get home and opened it in the car on the way back. I was still a pre-teen. My English was terrible, every sentence necessitated time to be understood.

I sure hope that there are products/things that have the same effect on kids today.

That was my experience also. The coats-of-arms in the Gazetteer sucked me in, the huge map in the box did the rest. I didn't find it boring at all.

No, I wouldn't want to buy another one. The official setting is hopelessly encrusted in canon, while Yggsburgh is as exciting as a sack of potatoes.
