This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Compliments of the season!

Happy Christmas/Saturnalia/Hannukah/Wintermas/WhateverTF-you-celebrate. Hope Santa brought you lots of Roleplaying goodies!
After a week off my creative juices are flowing and  I'm ready to write some games, how about you guys? I've got a 5th Ed ongoing campaign to prepare for. I've sketched out the most likely places my PCs might go, but you can never trust players!
I've got a Con coming up in January and I'm hoping to run some one-shots: Paranoia, Cthulhu and a 5th Ed would seem most likely, but I might try some duty & honour re-skinned as 40K  (it's a cinch to run and always goes well).
How about you guys? What have you got planned for the New Year?

Project One is dusting off my notes for Fantasy Traveller and trying to get it to an alpha stage. It's going to be more Game of Thrones than D&D, since GOT matches up better with the social status, aging, and lethality of Traveller.  But unlike GOT I'm going to have some low-level magic, or more accurately, a different type of low-level magic. Not sure how I'm going to handle "mustering out" yet.

Project Two is I'd like to try 4E again. The two times I played it I was impressed with the tactical options, although the high HP and healing surges made combats last forever. Might have been the GMs.

Project Three is not to play 5E in 2020.

Thanks!

I'll be spending new years with a friend, getting a very high-end meal cooked for me while I watch (albeit with some trepidation given the recent decline in quality) the premiere of Doctor Who.

I've got a one-shot to prepare for. After watching the Mandalorian and Rise of the Jedi, it's going be a Star Wars one-shot. The players will be Storm Troopers who have to deal with a Rebel cell and Jedi the cell has revived from carbonite. I've tossed around FFG's Star Wars, WEG Star Wars, but will end up using White Star or Tiny Frontiers.

Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

I'm running a Star Wars campaign right now, but I planned it before The Mandalorian aired. It has the PCs as wanted criminals during the peak period of the Empire, before there's really an armed Rebellion.

So much Star Wars love.

Nothing Disney can do will destroy Star Wars as long as the gaming community lives.

That's ultimately true, but they sure can do horrible damage in the short term.
