Quote from: soltakss;1046605To be honest, I haven't a clue what D&DGate is.
If it's being used correctly, someone has evidence that important reviewers are corrupt and easily bribed while the deflection is the accused calling everyone sexist and racist.

If we're just taking about D&D devs getting political and messing up their brand, then that's just bad business.
If we're talking about SJWs harassing people or trying to get products pulled, then that's just normal SJW behavior. They can't exist or define themselves without an Other that they attack or dehumanize.

Ah, thanks. So, it's nothing, then?

Quote from: DeadUematsu;1045574Really? You don't even play? Any reason why?

Mainly because my old group fell apart a few years ago and I found myself enjoying playing computer games a hell of a lot more than trying to wrangle a group of people together to play a game that nobody can agree on.  At this point in my life, I can do without it.

Quote from: S'mon;1046381I think #Gamergate got traction because of it was based on an injustice

This.

And there's plenty of injustice to still focus on, which is why things like this are so tedious.

Quote from: S'mon;1046381From what I can tell, Pundit's campaign so far has been based on reaction to the idea that non-gamers are part of the D&D Community.

And before that it was 'The Swine'.

Pundit's been fighting ideological battles since the beginning, and what does he have to show for it?

A following and several successfully sold books.  What have you got?

A years-unfulfilled Kickstarter.

The question was rhetorical.

But my real point is, and I think I may have been too vague, is that ideology sells.  Will ALWAYS sell.  Because humans, for the most part, want to belong to something.

Yeah, but do people buy his stuff because of ideology or because he's writing decent quality products for a fairly untapped market? At least his Arrows of Indra and "Medieval Authentic"
OSR stuff? It's not like he's publishing half-formed ideas or gibbersish (like say, Venger Satanis) using nudity as a crutch or his house ruled version of Swords & Wizardry (too many to mention), but still that has a fair amount of work put into them.

If anything, his ideology is probably hurting his sales, since his name is poison to the people at TPB who might otherwise be interested in such products

Mike the Mage

I bought Lion& Dragon and loved it and my decision to buy it had nothing to do with ideology.

I don't think we share one beyond RPGs.

Ehhh you really can't appease that crowd forever without becoming some sort of callouse monster that would alienate regular people.

But I'm like the regular people and turned off by politics in general. I don't consider advocating free speech politics and if I haven't witness the side Pundit rails against drag forums and games (Pathfinder) into the shitter, then I would find his politics more annoying.

Right now he's like the guy screaming about invading aliens. He seems crazy, but all the cows floating away into the sky seem to back his theory.

I'm not going to accuse the Pundit of anything other than what I see here.  He has an agenda, that's clear.  Does it show up in his books, probably?  Maybe?  But he's likely a good enough writer that uses said agenda in a way that makes it interesting.  And I think the best point is that because it's a book, people can change or just interpret his ideas in a way that's more palatable for them accept.  Even if he doesn't like what they do to his games, he's sold it to them.  There was something in there that appeals to people.

Only reason why I haven't bought one of his books is because I just don't have the money.

I think it involves dice?  (I didn't back it, and I don't know it, other than some off hand comments, I could be wrong, though.  Someone please correct me.)
