Public Consultation: Nox & Nox-bashing Threads

I suppose my thread about him got mislabeled as bashing...but that's another story.

I voted "do nothing."  Partly, this is because I also like the self-policing of the site, however, I think it's unfair to Nox.

However, as I pointed out elsewhere, Dominus Nox is OUR crazy bastard.  His abrasiveness is part of what makes therpgsite my preferred forum.  People around here may not like him, in fact I'm sure many around here don't like him, but he is fundamnetally a part of our community, for good or ill.

I think it is kinda shameful that we beat on him, but he brought that on himself.  

I hope he can be a little less abrasive in the future, but I don't know if that will bear fruit.

I voted change nothing, thuogh I'd be happy with merging anti-Nox threads.

Nox does not only post racist drivel, in the main gaming forum he makes some good posts on occasion, he posts quite a lot on rpgs generally in fact.

If he never posted on rpgs but only posted political stuff then maybe there'd be a point, but he does post about rpgs and this site benefits from people being able to speak without fear of banning.

Personally, I choose to talk to Nox when he talks about games or stuff like that, and to rebut if he posts something racist or anything I strongly disagree with.  Others can do likewise or can choose to ignore list him, a feature which I recommend to people if they find him or any other poster overly annoying.

I think it reflects poorly on us by the way to give him shit except in response to something hateful he has posted.  If he posts racist crap then by all means we should tell him to STFU, but starting threads or attacks of our own accord is just bullying and IMO is not ok.

This is a robust place, any of us can be challenged on anything we say and called on it, which I like.  I think we can do that without lynching people if they keep saying stuff we dislike.

Personally, I've always been a big fan of: there is always ONE. And if you keep that one around, they keep being the one. Get rid of them and it'll only become someone else.

He's even proved his worth as THAT ONE in this very thread. So, I've voted to keep things just as they are.

That said, while I admire Pundit's desire to not ban anyone... Pundit, it's your fucking forum, and as such you CAN draw a line (and re-draw it when you feel the need) and ban anyone you feel is JUST SO BAD that they deserve it.

I see a lot of crying and moaning and bitching on the internet about mods, admins, and policy. Fact is - if it's someone's forum, and you piss them off, expect to get the boot, rules be fucked. Pundit actually seems to be properly bending over backwards to let people who insult him stay on the board.

I agree with the sentiment that Nox is a nitwit, but he's our nitwit and should be allowed to stay.  The only thing I would change at this point is to edit the poll so that every option has some sort of Nox-directed insult.  I don't want to ban the motherfucker, but I fear that by voting otherwise I am unintentionally implying that he isn't a mothefucker.
