We got a guy 'round here who's got a theory that these big flouncy exits mean that, yes, the poster in question WILL return.  I'd tell you his name, but then I'd have to kill ya! actually... he changed names years ago and now I got crossed wires in the brainpan and neither one sticks, but I can recognize both when I see 'em.

Not that I've seen him lately... he made a bit of a flouncy exit himself as I recall over something 'offensive' the Pundit said.  Which... really?  

Of course I'm only here to ask Shwartzipoo, when he's really tired of hating every here all the time, when he'll actually leave.

I attribute it to late stage Trump Derrangement Syndrome. There's arguments to be made about the political right, conservatives and republicans, but Schwartz was too hyperbolistic and obviously prejudiced to make them well.

That is the saddest thing of the Current Year, to me. How else can I truly understand my own positions except through honest, even hard, challenges to them? By having to not only defend them, but defend them well, articulately and even with some precision?  Debating myself is all well and good, but at some point I need people on the outside shining a light into my blind spots, pointing out the cracks and flaws in my defenses... in my reasoning.

But these days too many people argue from blind belief in their ideologies or from raw ego, from emotion, and even those who can debate from reason can't do it well.  

It was rather odd: I was just watchign part of an old interview with Anton Lavey (one of those body language analysis vidyas on the Youtubes), and a random member of the audience was able to ask a question that set him back hard, far harder than anything the interviewer lobbed at him.  Where are the common schmoes who can do that today, I ask you?  The guys who can utterly disagree with you but still politely engage your beliefs well enough to ask pointed questions?

Instead: Behold Shwartzwald, the Last Man.

Yet I still benefit from these kinds of engagements.

The problem is challenging debate is now considered rude and abusive, and most places you attempt it will simply ban you for it. So there's literally no place to do it except in those isolated echo chambers full of people who already agree with you, and at that point what's the point? I can only hope life will one day imitate art.

And that's sorta where I am regarding this site.

I've been watching the same videos! I think she's a little biased at times, but that doesn't mean I can't learn something from her analysis once I realize and account for that. But people who are willing and able to think like that seem few and far between.

That's too bad. You had some good posts, mixed in with the crazy political ones. By crazy, I don't mean "crazy becuase I disagree" but crazy becuase your topics didn't correpsond to the sites you linked.
