SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

4E still has its fans on /tg/. Threads pop up on the catalog regularly, and the discussions are actually really productive. The Touhou guy knows his stuff.

Quote from: Cave Bear;925996What do you mean by 4vengers? Do you mean all people who play 4E?

The people who consider 4e the ultimate "evolution" of the D&D system and proselytize online to that effect, who throw tantrums anytime anyone points out differences between 4e and earlier editions or brings up the phrase "dissociative mechanics", and who consider 5e to be a "step backward" whose value is entirely based on nostalgia rather than the objective superiority of 4th edition, are the "4vengers".

People who just play the game and enjoy it but don't feel the need to shit on anyone else's fun, can accept that other people have different tastes than them, and understand that preference regarding games has zero on earth to do with anything resembling scientific objectivity, are just normal, cool gamers.

And we haven't heard from those guys in forever.

And yet you still obsess over them. That's not healthy man. You should learn to let go.

Um, WTF are you talking about? I dare you to find the last instance on this forum besides this thread I've even used the term, because I believe its been years.

Present behavior is the behavior that counts.

Well no, to show obsession I think you will need more than once instance

'Clinging to resentment' would be a better way to put it than 'obsession'?

I think you need to look up the definition of the word behaviour.

I was thinking of just the crazy ones. You know, the ones who were incredibly offended that you didn't think 4E was a game worthy of worship and witnessing about to everyone.
"Meh."

Wow. Blast from the past. You have to troll harder if you want to really 4venge though.

Agreed.  Any mouthbreathing goatfucker can 4venge on those other boards.  TheRPGsite gave birth to the greatest 4vengers of them all, Seanchai and Abyssal Maw, may their names be forever cursed and praised in equal measure.

AM was the legend against which all other 4vengers were measured...and found wanting.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

I feel like such a 4wimp :(

I'm totally okay with you guys playing lame editions of D&D due to your unworthiness to play 4e or master its awesomeness. :)

And that is the thing. Nobody really cares what tabletop RPG you play as long as you are not an asshole about it.

Which is I believe exactly what Mearls called them after he got fed up with it finally. I think that was around the time of the PHB release when the worst of them were really in a frothing rage?

Apparently they were also annoying WOTC on their own forum. Though said fora is gone now so not sure how bad off there they got. Or didnt. I missed 90% of the blowup.
