SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Wait, What Controversy about Pundit and Zak?

From the front page of ENWorld, in the news section, is this bit:

QuoteThere has been some controversy about the use of some of the consultants listed in the D&D Basic Game and the D&D Starter Set - namely [REDACTED](alternatively listed in the Basic Rules as TheRPGPundit) and Zak S. I thought it might be worth explaining what it was a consultant does, so I asked one, who told me that "Consultants were asked to read, play, analyze and rip apart a substantial early edition of the rules. Lots of interaction with WotC and analysis, but consultants had no decision-making ability whatsoever other than providing rules feedback." This took place a couple of years ago, in May-June 2012. WotC's Mike Mearls also weighs in with the following statement about consultants, and also about race/gender issues which have been discussed recently:

Anyway: it's very late and I am a feeling a bit sick, so I will keep this brief.

1. If anyone has any direct evidence of racism or sexism or any other form of discrimination on the part of people attached to D&D, please drop a line to me. Email is mike.mearls@wizards.com

2. Consultants on the project were hired to tear the game apart and pull no punches, so being brutal was basically a job requirement.

3. How we present race and gender in the game had nothing to do with anyone beyond me, Jeremy Crawford, and our art director, Kate Irwin. I have read up on issues of race, gender, and inclusivity in gaming and have done everything I can to address them. Will it be perfect? No. But I pay attention to this stuff because it's important. The consultants had no role in that department.

The other consultants listed are Jeff Grubb, Kenneth Hite, Kevin Kulp, Robin Laws, S. John Ross, and Vincent Venturella.

OK, so what the heck is this about? What controversy, where?

Dude, check out Pundit's forum, and read the current thread there. Let's try to keep that drama-train outta here.

TBP, because they're both kind of egotistical wankers who have said the odd thing in the past that might be vaguely construed as problematic if one is determined to assume the worst about them.

Can we just close this thread now instead of letting it get angry and unpleasant here?

RPGnet has been waxing well past lunatic over about anything to do with 5th ed. See the other threads detailing the meltdown over there.

Some nuts are claiming Pundit and Zak are racist, rapists, god knows what else and that their "sick and twisted rape culture views" were distilled into 5th ed. Start the crusade!

They've only claimed, to my knowledge, that :

Zak S is a stalker and instructs his follower to harass people off of the internet if they disagree with him

Zak S is misogynistic and transphobic

Pundit is transphobic (I don't think he got hit with the misogynist label)

Pundit is afraid of trains? That is kinda creepy I guess. I would have placed him as the fear of clowns type though.

Now it makes sense why there arent any trains in 5th ed...

In reality it is a sublimated campaign against 5e and Mearls, but they are a cowardly pack of rats, hanging about the sewer that is tbp.

And they have literal MOUNTAINS of evidence.

Just tons of the stuff.

They are drowning in examples.

But you can't see any of it. And it's not available to other people looking into it.

Because reasons.

And feels.

As this is basically the third thread that has discussed this i'm moving it to Pundit's forum.
