SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

The Honorable OSR

See my signature url for the blog post wherein I talk about it, but let me explain the basics first...

A sub-set of the OSR has splintered off, deciding that they're the morally virtuous ones within the OSR.  Their group is called The Honorable OSR.  It spawned from the whole OSR logo that we're no longer allowed to use, but it's a different topic which is why I created this thread.  I'm sure this story will develop nicely.  Feel free to post your thoughts below.

Those folks are full of themselves; and just because they want to chase unicorn farts to the other end of the rainbow, that doesn't give them the right to splinter the OSR!!!

It kinda does though.  That's what liberty and free association are all about.  If they really want to apply a political litmus test to their hobby, require that those they play with speak their required leftwords when the lash falls on their back, they ought to be able to do that.

For people to not be divided by serious political issues, some amount of social homogeneity is required, a homogeneity that no longer exists in the western world.  I empathize with those who wish they could just play their vidya, read their comics, or play their RPGs.  It's natural that they would have that expectation, because for most of them their parents could have done that.  Because these last few generations chose to destroy the old order in society in favor of what they imagined would be something better, we don't get to have things like that anymore, and things like leisure-centric communities get kicked over more easily than sandcastles.

They are doing everyone else a favor by segregating those to whom gaming is a political exercise from those who actually think gaming is about....  playing games.

We'll said! In time this virtue signalling will die down and people will just be themselves again. It is just ridiculous that people feel a compulsion to do this.

Unfortunately, from experience I can tell you that prude patrol and purity police factions like this NEVER just hole up in their little bunkers of hate and be forgotten. No. They will valliantly range out and suffer the horrible pains of looking at stuff they despise so they can BITCH incessantly about how WRONG WRONG WRONG it is and how they are the bastions of TRUE (inser whatever here).

The other thing they will do is start insinuating themselves into normal gatherings and then start rallying to oust anyone they deem inappropriate.

Eventually yes they will die out. But not before causing as much damage to the normal community as they can.

Yeah, places like the Hosr are not places to 'hide' in, they're places where they get to organize where they feel they're mostly out of the view of ordinary people.

'Honorable' OSR.

Is that one of those qualifiers like 'Peoples Free Democratic Republic' that some countries call themselves?

Is it weird that "Hosr" looks like an abbreviated form of "Hoser" (popularized in Strange Brew) to me.

I think we've found our new nickname for OSRSJWs

But wouldn't labeling the OSRSJWs as "Hosers" be an insult to the intelligence level of Bob and Doug McKenzie?
