SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Enough already with woke vs anti-woke threads

I came over to this forum to escape the culture wars of many other gaming forums, for far too many of them have threads which degenerate into extreme positions that would alienate a majority of people—as well as often being hypocritical grandstanding.

However, THIS forum is often worse than the "woke" forums as people on this forum start threads, or hijack threads, with equally boring and irrelevant "anti-woke" nonsense. Right now as I post this, 5 of the top 10 threads are expressly and exclusively on sociocultural issues (albeit from the conservative view), which is a higher proportion than I ever see on the mainstream, "woke" forums. Can we stop it?

I don't want to be attacked by the far Left with virtue-signaling and biased, often uninformed rants, BUT I also don't want to listen to an equal number of virtue-signaling, angry, and often uninformed rants by conservatives. Can we talk about gaming and not about which staff member and which company posted something on Twitter, or excoriate ad nauseum some company that came out with a gender-neutral sourcebook? If anything, this forum is actually worse than EnWorld and RPG.net in terms of just blathering on nonstop about these issues.

Concern troll is concerned.

Start threads on stuff that interest you and put [no politics] on the title, participate ONLY on those threads that interest you.

As for this site being equal or worst than the woke sites....

Bwahahahahahaha, not even close, for starters you wouldn't get banned for your hot takes, go and post this exact complaint on those other sites telling them THEY should stop the politics and focus only on gaming to see how fast you get at least a temporary ban.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

A quick look at RPG.net shows a heavy bias to the left.  The first sign would be the pride emblem, I suppose.

I'm curious as to what the political leanings of EnWorld and Giant in the Playground are.  I'm aware of each, but I've never spent much time lurking in either.

Thor's Nads

I somewhat agree. As someone who is guilty of both starting and perpetuating such threads all I can say is that so many other forums are over run with extreme Left wing politics it is a respite to have a place to go where you can express an opinion to the right of Chairman Mao and not be banned. To be able to converse with like minded gamers is refreshing.

Is someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read threads you don't like?  Are you strapped to a chair with your eyelids forcibly propped open and made to read them whilst Beethoven plays in the background, like Alex in A Clockwork Orange?  I'll tell you like liberals used to tell conservatives, back before the Left went full authoritarian:  "If you don't like it, don't watch it/read it/listen to it, but don't interfere in others' ability to do so."  It was good advice then, it's good advice now.  And this place is full of conservatives because we've been shut out of everywhere else.  You should be grateful you're even allowed to spout your opinion here; if you went to the "superior" forums of ENWorld and RPG.net and complained that too many left-wingers were there, you'd immediately be banned.

Hey I agree on principle. There is one problem though. This is a GAMING forum to discuss TTRPG topics. If the game companies would keep woke shit out of their products then we wouldn't need to discuss it at all in this forum. So get to work and make game companies stop producing woke shit and your desires will be realized.

RPGPub.com has an explicit 'no politics' rule. That's probably where you want to be.

Yeah, we already had a thread on that.  "No politics" just means "no politics I don't like."  What the admins agree with isn't politics, it's just facts/common sense...  ::)

This guy is just upset that there is one place on the internet where people are allowed to say stuff he doesn't like...

It is white, cis male oppression to insist on the privilige of ignoring the problems with our culture. Silence is violence. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Do Better.

Seriously, you don't get to ignore the culture war. That's the point. It's designed to polarize and radicalize people.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

If it that bad, and you don't like it, you can always leave, quietly, with no fuss.

If you don't like what certain people have to say then ignore them. There's quite a few people who I have muted after they expressed tolerance or advocacy for child sexual abuse. Not really interested in interacting with those people even in a gaming context.

*shrug* Works for me when I'm in the mood for a chill spot. I've personally seen woke threads shut down just as readily as anti-woke threads. Perfect? No. Good enough? I say let GamerforHire inspect it for himself. It's not exactly like people are rolling out the red carpet for him here anyway.
