Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

ArenaNet Fired Jessica Price

ArenaNet (developers of the Guild Wars 2 video game) just fired Jessica Price (formerly of Paizo), and another developer for getting into a flame war on Twitter.

Quote from: Massively OverpoweredThe Guild Wars 2 team is short two narrative designers today after a pitched internet war of words on Twitter.

"Recently two of our employees failed to uphold our standards of communicating with players," ArenaNet's Mike O'Brien wrote on the game's forums. "Their attacks on the community were unacceptable. As a result, they're no longer with the company. I want to be clear that the statements they made do not reflect the views of ArenaNet at all. As a company we always strive to have a collaborative relationship with the Guild Wars community. We value your input. We make this game for you."

We presume the employees are Jessica Price and Peter Fries, who have been the subject of a heated Reddit-and-forum flamewar nearing 10,000 comments across its many threads for the last two days.

Price, it appears, seriously overreacted to an influencer's hopefully well-intentioned but clumsy advice on narrative design on her personal Twitter feed; when she insinuated he was mansplaining and referred to "hurt manfeels," what should have been a simple misunderstanding escalated as a mob of angry players then flocked to raid her Twitter for evidence, harass her on social media, and riot on Reddit to effectively call for her head.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander after all.

You DO NOT insult your consumers.  It doesn't matter if you agree with them or not, you let it slide and just do your job.

This is a promising sign. Of course, she and her followers will blame Rape Culture and claim that it is Nazism if you aren't allowed to brutally insult loyal customers.

Part of the funny for me is that she likes to wear a cowboy hat and she Dixie Chick'd herself.

Did they not know her record before they hired her? She was too SJW for Paizo, that bastion of the Patriarchy.

From what I can tell her comments were not even that extreme compared to stuff she'd say on Paizo's boards. Although attacking that incredibly polite and non-obnoxious guy for offering what looked like a pretty useful suggestion was certainly bad. I suspect, going by past behaviour, what most likely happened was that her employers called her & the other guy in and asked them to knock it off and not do it again, they flipped out and got themselves fired.

I get the feeling that this will put Price on the same industry blacklist as Holden, David Hill, and Black Hat Matt.

My reaction to that misandrist bitch Jessica Price getting fired can best be summed up like this.

LOL!!!!

I'm tempted to reward Arnet with some cash for using common sense. Like, man, I saw the gamer's tweet and it was nothing.

RPGnet now have their new seam of banning justification with this "controversy" - two bans so far.

She was a jerk to paying customers. She deserved to be fired. But because she's a member of the most privileged class in the world, pretty upper middle class white women, she'll be protected.

I think the tide is starting to turn on this stuff

The public / gamers, and now developers / content creators are starting to get sick of the bullshit. Jessica Price, Monica Valentinelli and other "activist" chicks in the industry have made a career out of getting into online brawls, making allegations (some of them false) against guys in the industry, and generally starting shit wherever they go.

You can't have "problem people" representing your company, which this illustrates nicely. She can take her bad attitude somewhere else. Maybe the commie degenerates at Green Ronin will take her in

It won't.  One of the co-founders of Evil Hat is already supporting her, and people on RPGnet are framing it as those "evil GamerGaters came after poor Jessica."

I hope they hire her, and that she brings to them all the joy and happiness for which she is renowned.
