Title: Score!
Post by: James McMurray on January 19, 2008, 10:24:11 PM
I swung by my local Half Price Books and what did I find? Near pristine copies of Amber and Shadow Knight at $7.98 each. They'd be mint except for the unavoidable yellowing on the edges that comes from having been printed 15 years ago.

Woot!

Woot!

Wow!

Where is the store?

I have no idea how they'd end up at a Half Price Books.

Snap those babies up!

Fort Worth, TX. We've got three Half-Prices in the area and I've been trolling them for bargains for over 15 years. This is the first time I've seen an ADRP book.

And fear not, they were swiped instantly. :)

It actually ended up costing me an extra 7 bucks because I'd already told my kids we were just going in to look and probably wouldn't be getting anything, to stave off pouring through the kids section to buy a book that we could just as easily get at the library. When they saw me snag two large books they called me on it. :)

I don't know how they'd get there either. I have to assume someone was either quitting gaming altogether or on the bad end of a breakup / estate sale. I've sold gaming books when I needed the money, but never anything that I'd have to pay $75 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1880494000/ref=dp_olp_2/105-3064677-2603636?ie=UTF8&qid=1200799423&sr=8-1) for on Amazon to replace. Especially since I know they got at most $2 for it because Half Price doesn't care about rarity, just age and cover price (with age being bad for the seller, not good).

Nothing personal, but I hate you with a firey passion the depths of which you cannot possibly begin to imagine. :(

Damn, I need to get my hands on a second set. I dislike parting from mine when a player wants to look at some power specifically etc... I guess it's about time they hunt their own :P

Nice find, though!
*makes a mental note to hit the used bookstores in the area over the week-end*

Hobbitt Luck obviously.

Yeah, we all need that spare copy.

Good to see it went to a cool person.

Really? I'd beat up an old lady for another Curious George. If it had a little bit of smoke damage and some melted plastic from a house fire on its butt I'd kill her for it.

Ok. Not really. but maybe a little light torture.
