This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I run a play by post Amber campaign and I find it allows me a great deal of flexibility both in terms of time and ability to GM my various players in a fashion more like that found in the books.  Meaning that unlike in a table top game, I can have them separate from one another pursuing their own agendas--or later group them back up--and use a combination of both public and private threads to keep their exploits either open for reading like a book or private to protect hidden schemes and plot twists.  It also allows me to use canon characters without the dangers of the Deus ex machina, as these often more powerful characters are used not to rescue them but merely to interact and further their own individual stories.

I was curious, do others here run or play PbP Amber?  If so, how has it worked for you?

I had the intuition before joining Spoken Truths that Amber DRPG PbP could be its own unique role playing beast. Basically when played at a table Amber may suffer from PC scattering. Add shadows with various time flow and you get a mess that would make Zelazny's work look like narrative equivalent of heart surgery. Jibbajibba's Wiki based game has proven to be very flexible and practical platform for multi-threaded craziness. Another sign that doesn't lie: the game's been running slowly but efficiently for 5 months, that beats any other attempt I've participated in by 4 months... I was starting to wonder if PbP RPGs were a scam until I joined this game.

Very nice work, it's hard keeping a game going that long, I know, my game Reflections of Amber over on Rpol.com is going on eleven months now with 3,492 posts.  Frankly, I don't know how I would do a table-top game with a group the size I currently run.
