This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Looking for anyone interested in 1st edition retro classic ad&d.

the game takes place in a custom homebrew setting that is low magic/low fantasy, at 1st level.

the premise:

a young queen, a kingdom in turmoil, political intrigues abound and men of dubious scruples plotting in the shadows to further their secret designs.

you, and others of your brood grew up in the innards of a secret monastery in the Iron hills, one which was well funded. your ascetic chaperones guarded and protected you, and taught you skills: meditation, calligraphy, hard work ethic, self discipline, even the secret body weaponry of Kara Tur called Kung Fu. From the herd of orphans, you and several others were chosen for a particular class. one thing bound you together: a particular birthmark found in random locations on your bodies.

fated to the life of a monk, or so you thought when news came of a secret benefactor who offers an all expenses paid schooling at the Royal University of Corealus, the Royal Capital. So it is there that your destiny will unravel. Will you choose art? Literature? Math? Magic? Professional Soldiering? If the fates decree it. and there you went to train and learn the arts you decided upon.  Each agreeing to reunite once again upon graduation, for one last farewell to the monk master who had acted more as a foster father than a martial arts instructor.

upon your arrival, you and your mates are gathered in hiding behind some shrubs and boulders. one of you explains "look there, see for yourselves" producing a spy-glass. at the entrance of the monastery: soldiers in ebony armor, rounding up orphans into caged wagons. one escapes and a soldier cries 'you're not going anywhere!' hurling a bola at the child's feet. they drag the child into the wagon and have a smug laugh at the prisoner's misfortune "fret not young whelp, your life was pretty much useless before. now you'll spend it in servitude to the imperium. it will make you strong and that pleases the emperor!"

one of the black clad soldiers, a leader apparent says "spread out, we still haven't located the monk and his wards. they are the ones we must find. for the emperor!"

if interested shoot me a note, thanks!
