This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A question and an Interest check.

Has anyone here ever ran Pendragon play by post? I am starting to believe that I will never find a group that is interested in playing, and I have physical copies of the core book and GPC as well as all the PDFs from the Bundle of Holding just calling my name. Any particular pitfalls that might arise with this specific game in this particular format?

Also would anyone here be interested in taking a crack at playing Pendragon play by post here? Although my last play by post sort of petered out due to other commitments on my part, I learned quite a bit about what not to do play by post and I think I could make a much better go of it this time.

Mr. Kent

I don't have the game, but I'd surely play!

NOW PLAYING: Gideon Sharp in Top Secret, Hanalee Hondo in 5e Basic: Livonia\'s Lament

Warboss Squee

I'd give a shot, heard a lot of good things about the game.

Sounds good, with the way this game works I feel like it would be easy to work new people in as we go. Do either of you have the actual rulebook? It doesn't matter if you don't, I can walk you through character creation and just resolve actions as you describe them once the game starts.

If you guys are really interested I would say we could shoot for starting this weekend. I figure we can just start with the Great Pendragon Campaign, there is lots of room to go off the beaten path with it and it will cut down on prep work for me quite a bit.

I don't have the rulebook, and this weekend is fine for me :)

I can get it...but don't currently have it. My buddy does, but I don't know what edition, if that's even a thing.

Opaopajr

Well, I am completely green to GMing PbP (you're in my first one!), so no, I have no Pendragon PbP experience.

As to would I like to play, why yes! Paladins and princesses with moral mechanics baked in sounds like fun! Unfortunately I have no Pendragon material with which to keep up. But I trust the GM to explain things and not hose me over.

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Cool, sounds good to me welcome aboard Opaopajr! Pendragon isn't really a particularly heavy system so it shouldn't be to hard for me to handle most things behind the scenes. Character creation is a little bit on the heavy side but I wouldn't say it's much heavier than D&D 3e.

We will be playing the 5th edition of the game, as it's the one I have the most material for.

The way my schedule looks at the moment I am shooting for to start character creation Saturday.

Panjumanju

Good luck with the game! Pendragon is by far one of my favourites.

Welcome to join if you like, I think I can handle one more player fairly well.

Thank you, but I wouldn't be able to put forward the time commitment to do the game justice.

Perhaps another time.

Ok so we are going to suffer a bit of a delay gentlemen.  Due to a problem with Comcast I'm without Internet for the moment. I don't really think doing this on my mobile is the best idea, so I'm going to put this on hold until I can work something out. I still hope to get started making characters before the weekend is over.
