This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm sure FATAL has some, but I'm not sure I can stand the SAN loss required to look up suitable quotes.

...Look, we all know FATAL is worse. It doesn't need to be stated and no-one needs to be reminded of anything they may have seen...

...Stupid horrible people posting excerpts to "prove it really is that bad"...

The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

Agreed. Not worth it.

I did. I don't find the writing horrible, just very twee and formulaic.

Quote from: BedrockBrendan;362323I don't know anything about Wraththu,

All you need to know about wraethethtuhtuthuthtuthu is this:

Acid. Jizzing. Bishonen. With. Sea. Anemone. Penises.

if that doesn't drive you into the survival bunker and have you yanking the vault door shut behind you then you're made of sterner stuff than I.

The first version of the Deathstalkers RPG was filled with horrible "poetry." Example:

Quote from: Deathstalkers RPG 1st EditionThere once was a man by the name of Fred always very fat and he constantly fed. But nobody knew that good ol' Fred stole and ate the recently dead!

Later editions cut back on this "poetry" considerably.

I laugh at your puny Foom and raise you one Aria:

"Esoteric Preparation Aspects include the respect of specific Origin or Reality-based Correspondence, an adherence to certain accepted Laws of Reality, the Solidification of individual Paradigms, or the need to Shape Affinities when directing Omnessence at unresponsive targets."

"Without embarking upon a detailed economic analysis of a particular Narrative Environment, there is no simple method to account for each environmental peculiarity. If a more accurate Pricing System is desired by the Mythguide or Ensemble, they must examine their environment carefully and apply or devise another system with which they are more comfortable. Alternately, the Mythguide can stipulate prices on an item by item basis during play. If this method is employed players should roleplay economic transactions. If the Mythguide finds that the Ensemble does not share his vision of average prices he can either moderate his prices toward the group's wishes or allow the players to bargain for lower prices."

You all realise that this is based on a series of novels, yes?  In fact, I saw a copy of the collected stories at a bookstore I visited just this afternoon.  I always found it hard to believe that the game was based on a real person's stories, but there it was staring me in the face.  Fortunately, it did not jizz acid on me.

Daztur

I have actually read some of the Wreaththu fiction that the RPG is based on and while it's not very good, it's hardly awful or anywhere near as bad as the RPG and even has a good idea or two, they do involve Acid. Jizzing. Bishonen. With. Sea. Anemone. Penises. though so that might be a bit of a turn-off for some people.

I was aware.  That doesn't make it better.

In fact that makes it worse.

Quote from: Zachary The First;362269Foom, indeed.
. . . and *foom!* goes the dynamite.
On weird fantasy: "The Otus/Elmore rule: When adding something new to the campaign, try and imagine how Erol Otus would depict it. If you can, that\'s far enough...it\'s a good idea. If you can picture a Larry Elmore version...it\'s far too mundane and boring, excise immediately." - Kellri, K&K Alehouse
