Kevin Crawford posted on /r/SWN that the Kickstarter for Worlds Without Number, the fantasy version of his SWN/Sine Nomine house retroclone, will go live on Mon Oct 5. You can view the KS preview here:

Sweet. This sounds like a dream come true!
....Will there be an option to have spells function more like Psionics in SWN? I hate vanician magic in all its permutations.
I'm really looking forward to it. I don't buy much these days but I'm always in for more Sine Nomine goodness. It's been a long time coming, so here's hoping WWN lives up to the hype.
I scanned through the beta docs very quickly, and my first impression is that it looks like a close D&D variant with a new setting. Is this a fair assessment?

Yes, though this description applies to all of his products. Beyond this, they are always ALSO on top a tool-kit for generating adventuring content. Stars Without Number, the scifi progenitor, had an ingenious planet creation system.
Going to back this, even though I probably won't ever play it. Guys like Crawford need to be supported so RPGs don't totally turn into SJW circlejerks.
The magic system in the current beta is kind of a hybrid of Vancian magic and a point-based system. You have your typical Vancian spells, but then the different mage traditions get what are called Arts that are powered by a pool called Effort. Arts are less powerful generally than spells, but still allow a mage to be magically useful after they've blown their spell wad for the day.
Looks good. I am a sucker for Kickstarter.
Awesome! I'll be reading the draft PDF this weekend.
Going to be interested how WWN will be different vs. Red Tide.
I'm still stunned how much actual play I've gotten from his Exemplars & Eidolons which has been perfection for when I've had 2-3 players.

Ill probably back it, i loved godbound.

Kickstarter is run by SJWs. And we already have D&D (multiple iterations of it, in fact).

So what? Like seriously who gives a fuck? What if I want twenty more versions of D&D? Kickstarter is SJW land for sure, but Crawford doesn't seem to inject his own politics into anything so as far as I'm concerned even if the SJWs get a few crumbs at least someone is making an alternative to WotC bullshit.
It's live now and almost funded already.

Have you read Stars Without Number? It's one of the best Traveller supplements ever. That's the real worth of Sine Nomine's work (and SWN is/was a free PDF on DriveThruRPG). I love Silent Legions, even though I've yet to run the game, because its on my go-to pile for horror RPG prep because of the tools.
I highly suspect WWN will be similar. A tremendously good tool for fantasy RPG GM prep and perhaps a cool retro-clone in its own right.
I'm loving watching this KS right now. It and the Zweihander guy's launched withing hours of each other and Kevin's is crushing it in funding.

Fuck off Daniel. Sorry, reflex to seeing the Z-Word.
I always enjoyed flicking through Stars Without Number even though I've not actually used it yet per say, so I'll probably put down for a PDF of this at least.
I really want to back this, but the US post is so poor from Drivethrurpg to Australia these (most of the time, the books don't arrive, they have to resend it etc.
A damn shame, as I want this book and I know it's not Crawford's fault.

It's certainly not fast, but I've had zero issues with any DTRPg POD orders (8 orders in total this year and last, no orders in '17 and '18, didn't check to see how many I made from 2016 or earlier). [Edit: I'm in Australia.]

Yeah it was fine (although very slow) up until a couple of years ago and then it was just awful.
Drivethru were nice about it though and resent stuff at their own cost, although on occasion, it didn't arrive on the resend too..
