Given how many thwarts and snares there are for the contemporary progressive gamer, it would be helpful to have a guide indicating exactly how one goes about running a woke game, including how to run characters other than one's own real-life race, if indeed such is permissible. Does any know if such a style guide exists?
It's always changing, and you never know. So that the people in position to carry out an attack can always attack you for something.
Pay attention to race? You're racist. Ignore race? You're racist. Treat men and women differently? You're misogynist. Treat men and women the same? You're misogynist.
That's how it works. The only way to win is not to play.
Add to it that, being offended is a subjective experience which trumps any objective standards. So, there could never be a guide. Even making such a guide would be an attack in itself, since anyone could just go further left and then accuse the guide of excluding them.

Or ensure none of those douchebags are in your circle of friends or gaming group. Someone starts with that bs, it's time to show them to the door. There is no common ground with them.

Not being a progressive, not being interested in gaming with one why should I care about their rules? If they want a guide they can make one and fuck off.

This, tell them to fuck off to the ends of earth and once they get there to fuck off again.
A guide would invalidate the need to pay a bunch of money to a sensitivity reader.

I meant not play the game of being socially conscious/sensitive whatever it is that they want to call their mental illness.
Leaving it vague means you can attack anyone, at any time. If you write it down, you defeat its entire purpose.

*Laughing* Exactly!
And well, creating a "Guide" is simply more structures of White Supremacy and Colonialism. It is yet another attempt in using white logic, white systems, white structures of organizing and power, to perpetrate more discrimination against POC and queers and trans people. Keeping it vague and undefined is far more fair, and better, so that way it maximizes individual expression, interpretation, and feelings.

The woke style guide is easy;
REE that something the majority considers normal is actually oppressive to [insert minority group here]. Alternate that with a "that's not who we are" statement of tolerance and jabs at anyone who disagrees being a bigot who should be excluded from the game/society/continued existence on each page. Game content is irrelevant.

This. As a hobby author and designer it's insane how common sense shit like "Do research into culture's you want to represent" isn't "enough". I had one person try to tell me I was "Extending Western stereotypes" in my hobby book because I was accurately representing Medieval Era Arabs. Funniest thing about it, I spoke to European and even a handful of Middle Eastern historians on the topic to have a better understanding.
What makes it even funnier to me. I emphasised the fact that during this period of time there was a HIGH pressure on Muslim lords and their equivalent of Knights to be honorable. It painted both sides in the conflict as people who tried to follow rules they had. But nah, that was "Stereotyping" and I had to hire a sensitivity reader for approval.
It's all one big scam. Just do your research, be respectful to cultural not your own. Have sources and if you include stereotypes understand why those exist. Boom easy.

Even better still... Just write the game you want. Not saying anyone should offend people on purpose, but if you did by accident or whatever who cares? It's no big deal.

Just tell the TWAT that said this that when you find a medieval era Arab you will ask him to be a sensitivity reader. Until then they can STFU!

Who made you hire a sensitivity kommisar? If it was DTRPG I think I might selfpublish elsewhere just on principle.

Interested in the answer as well, but I doubt it was DTRPG. Too many products of varying scale, right?
IF it turns out a publisher is now requiring sensitivity readers, two things. First, like cockroaches, where there is one there are or will eventually be many.. And second, and again if this is a publisher's requirement, I'm sure someone around here predicted this. Would be interesting if anyone has a saved receipt...

Well, if it was a publisher it belongs on the red list.

In this case I brought up the experts I spoke to and they become very quite. Thankfully this was well over a few years ago.
