Title: WHO on here would you invite to a geme session? Think positive here...
Post by: Koltar on August 29, 2009, 11:19:12 PM
Just what the thread title says.....

WHO on here of the frequent posters or regulars do you know you would invite to your game tabe?

Thats IF transportation and cost wasn't an issue - in other words wehave the silly Star Trek-like transporters and schgedule games with anyobody no matter what part of the globe they reside in.

PLEASE don't post the negative or who you DON'T want to game with.

Of people on here - I've already said I'd love to be a player in one of Pundit's games  -especially would love to try the LSH game as a I was fan of the Legion in their Mike Grell /Claremont /Cockrum days ... (some of the Keith Giffen stuff was pretty good)

I'd also invite the Pundit to be a player in any GURPS or G:T game that I ran.

Kyle Aaron - I'd love to see the guy as just a player in a game. Kyle, you ever visit the states - you're invited to my table.

Werekoala - the dude seems to love TRAVELLER as much as I do. Koala, want to sit in on a game session or two?

Those are the first 3 that come to my mind.

Yeah, another vote for Kyle Aaron. He'd be a great player to have at my table.

Also, Koltar, you're a big GURPS player, so you'd be welcome too.

Clash, of course.
David R, even though he is a thespy commie
Benoist, French wit is always welcome, just stay away from my woman!
Jeff Rients, because he is a Right-Thinking Gamer

Hmmm... quite a few posters who've drifted off.

6 Foot 1 actually, as for the weight - have been dieting a bit in the past year - so maybe not as big as I used to be.

Ah, the great circle jerk thread.  Change the color scheme to purple and it almost feels like RPG.net.

I'd love to play with Cessna, Future Villain Bond, and alexandria2000!

I am! Time Lord in T minus 96 hours.  Jenny (the Doctor's daughter) and the young Mr. Thorne (the human not-Doctor's son from the alternate universe) meet the mysterious Arborist!  And I'd play it with Pundy and droog (but Pundy has to play the chick).

Everyone.

I don't care if they're big internet blowhards or hate my guts or whatever. People usually aren't so blustery in real life.

They're all invited.

Is it really a circle jerk if it's a real possibility? It's a small hobby.

I lurk sporadically, but it's interesting to read anyway. I know a lot of your posting styles, and there are several I'd play with. Pundit seems like he could do character really well and he agrees with me on Setting. Koltar seems like a good guy who also likes GURPS, I like Kyle Aaron's philosophy from what I've seen, Even though the Game Guy has me on ignore on TBP for a flippant comment I made to get a laugh I wonder if we're that different, and One Horse Town and I have talked about doing a project together in the past, and I like the cut of his jib. Pete Whalley gave me some good advice today elsewhere, and I've always liked his style.

Those are just the ones that come immediately to mind with a bit of making sure I got the names right.

It's not ass-kissing; it's that it's sometimes hard to find good players, and if the opportunity to play with them were to come up, it would be stupid to turn them down.

Good question. I'd play GURPS if Koltar was running it, and Amber if Pundit was doing the same. MOST everybody would be invited to a CoC or UA game I' be running.

I'd like to play in Aos's post-apoc setting, preferably run by True20. Also, the post about Pundit's Legion of Super Heroes campaign was pretty awesome, I'd love to take part in that.

Otherwise, as players...  Whoever shows up gets in.

Jesus, that's kind of hard. First names coming to mind are the Pundit, Kyle Aaron, One Tin Soldier (what's up with him lately? He didn't post for a while), Drohem, Werekoala, Akrasia, Philotomy... ARGH. Head Injury! Too many to count!!

Case in point, eh?  Just kidding, of course.

Actually, I'm going to put my money where my mouth is, and issue an open invitation to anyone so inclined.  If anyone is around (40 degrees / 10 minutes / 25 seconds) North, (74 degrees / 49 minutes / 55 seconds) West and looking for a game, send me a PM and I'll tell you where we're getting together for D&D 3.5.

Benoist,
Akrasia,
Clash,
JoetheLawyer,
and
David R
all seem to be people that would do well at my game table.
I apologize if I am excluding anyone that I have had good conversation with.  Not that this is not a bit of a popularity contest, but it is nice of Koltar to give people a chance to be recognized.

First, I'd probably be pleased to play with the great majority of posters at least once, just to put a face to a screen name, but I realize that's a bit of a cop-out.

I've played with Joe Wolz, and he's a terrific guy who runs a good game. I'd take the opportunity to play with him again in a second. I've always liked the sound of games Pseudophedrine has played, and he seems like he'd be a fun person to get together and play with. In addition, I think I'd be happy to play a game of Pundit's Forward to Adventure with him as the GM.

I recall that there are some specific other posters I'd be happy to game with that I don't remember offhand or maybe don't frequent here often, anymore.

You know, and most of the posters have it exactly right. I know that therpgsite is known for having a bunch of tough-talkers, but I don't see why we can't be a little positive about our poster base. I really don't have a clue what you're getting out of that, Ian.

Cool, I'd play with you too.

See, that's the problem with threads like that. Aside of the whole ego "did I see someone write down my name here?" thing, unless one's some type of sociopath and just likes one or two people on a given message board, it's impossible to just name everybody, so one gets into tangential apologies about forgetting some names, not meaning ill to anybody et cetera.

I'd love to take groups from this site--eclectic as it is--and make a point of playing a series of short campaigns in "unplayable" systems. I'd bust out my crazy-ass moon voodoo dice and run MetaScape. That would be awesome.

There's too many cool people around here to count them all, sorry. I only have met one of you IRL (Balbinus) and he's always invited, of course. Said this, I think it would be easier for me to think of people I would like to play with in a game they run.

Good summation. Plus, in finding this thread four pages in, I have to admit to a bit of deflation to see some people I would have named not name me, so I feel sheepish in naming anyone. I'm embarrassed to admit that, but there it is.

I've been drooling when I read Imperator's AP reports. So yeah I'd play anytime in guapa Espana! I'd even learn Spanish for real:)

I'd love to play in a Amber game by Pundit: same thing, the campaign logs are awesome and I'd love to learn from an experienced Amber GM.

I'd be curious to try Aos' Metal Earth, even though system-wise I'm afraid it won't excite me, I'd like to have a taste of this expert gonzo thingy.

Many others I'd be interested but those three are top of the list.

I'd actually be interested in playing a game with a number of people that I disagree with quite a bit on here - Settembrini (language barriers notwithstanding), Melan, Elliott, even Stormbringer. I like variety, and they claim to play D&D in a very different style than the way I do. I think it would be interesting to give it a go.

Otherwise, I'd quite like to run a game for David R, Kyle, Aos and Thanatos02. I think our styles, different as they might be, would be complementary to one another.

Kyle's running, because he might be the only GM on here that could possibly handle the level of vitriolic bullshit that this board can generate.

Everyone else is playing, at least until half of the posters walk into the next room to argue about forge theory and what it means or doesn't mean and whether or not there are swine on the board or whatever else takes their focus away from talking about actual games.

And there is a ban on those silly dice cups to, because dice are meant to be rolled not tossed into a friggin cup!
