This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

B/X D&D Excel Treasure Generator

I just finished up a B/X D&D treasure generator for Excel and have posted it here:

This uses the tables from the Cook Expert rules.  I'd like to have it eventually generate specific spells for scrolls, powers for intelligent swords, etc.  In addition, I'd like to include the RC jewelry, gem and objects d'art tables.  Finally, it could stand to be a little prettier.  Still, it saves you some time!

This is part of my project to finish up or make presentable a bunch of Excel generators and calculators I've had on my HD.  I also have a Classic Traveller subsector generator (also does individual star systems, encounter tables and basic cargo & passenger calculations) here:

Glad it'll see some use. :)

I've started laying down tables to do jewelry and gems RC-style.  The next "version" of the sheet will also have an option to turn off the automatic checking of INT/Special Purpose for magical swords.  Hopefully will get all that down in the next couple of days.

Any chance of an Open Office version, for those of us without MSO?
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.

You and your Excel things. Hahha.

Me: "I need to write up some new NPCs for next session. I wish it didn't take as long."

KenHR: "I can bang out a new spreadsheet for you in 23.7 seconds."

Me: "Hrmmm, this adventure generator sucks. I wonder if there's a better one online?"

KenHR: "I can bang out a new spreadsheet for you in 18.1 seconds."

Me: "Thanks Ken. What about city generators complete with full district write-ups and locations?"

KenHR: "34 seconds."

Me: "Villain histories?"

KenHR: "4 seconds."

Me: "My grocery list?"

KenHR: "19 seconds, since you do that "healthy eating" bullshit."

Me: "The formula of reality?"

KenHR: "51.883 seconds."

Me: "Bastard. I have Open Office. :(

I'm convinced that Excel has the keys to Zen-like happiness.  I can get lost in tables and nested formulae until I feel at one with the vibrations of the universe...or maybe it's the fucking sub-woofer the asshole downstairs is always blasting at full volume.

For some reason, Grim, I thought you had Excel.  But for you, I'm happy to produce the keys of reality in an Open Office format. :)

Hmm, I use Open Office too and the sheets works just fine.

KenHR

Excellent!  I was afraid I'd have to learn some strange conversion process.  I don't use any of the Development Pack functions and such, so what you've got on the sheets is standard Excel formulae.

I just get a few lines of text and no drop-down menu that I can see.

Updated the file a bit.  Added some color to the generation page; a toggle to choose between Basic, Expert, RC, and RC w/average PC levels of 9+; and a toggle to check for intelligent magical swords.

Currently, the method toggle only affects gem and jewelry generation.  It's going to take a while before I can get all the RC magical items in there.

Also have a few updates to do on the Traveller sheet when I can stand looking at it again. :)

WHOOPS.  Gem values were ignoring the B/X/RC toggle.  Fixed.

Sorry.
