This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What out of print RPGs do you like to run?

My first podcast will be, in great part, about how Classic Traveller put me on the road to my current, "Pantsless" approach to gaming - more free-form, less worried.

Quote from: HalfjackThis toolbox nature also makes it a powerful adjunct to any other system you might prefer for handling the simulation end -- character representation, combat, equipment, etc. -- as you retain a large set of still relevant tools for generating setting elements.

Hell, yeah.  If I were to run nearly any other sci-fi rpg on my shelf I'd end up still using Traveller for system generation and shipbuilding.

Let me know when you do that podcast.  I would like to hear it

All this talk of Traveller makes me wish I could find a copy

I made a TSR Conan character during lunch and found her a bit underpowered.  Killed too easily, it seems -- maybe I need to start with more points, higher limits?

The Little Black Books are up on eBay all the time.  And they're cheap.  I bought extra copies of Book 1 just so I could let player's reference them.

If you want the totally sweet reprint editions, I'm sure Marc Miller would be happy to hook you up.  Warehouse 23 carries the reprints as well.

Gunslinger

My Rules Cyclopedia campaign that i've been working/reworking for about 7 years.  One player refuses to play Basic.  Always in the mood to play some golden age Marvel (FASERIP), everybody loves Marvel.  I'd like to have the guys play some Star Frontiers but that may be just a bit too much nostalgia from me for them to handle.

I discovered a few minutes ago that Paizo.com is even cheaper than that.

Waste World...
Basic D&D
and many more!

In short, if I have fun with it, it stays around and I use it when its needed. I just won a TSSI copy that's near mint in box, compared to the copy I got used a while back that barely managed to hold together.

Are they in one big book or are they 8 seperate books?  I will check Paizo.com out.

Thanks

I'd do both. Despite the innovations of the system it seems mired in the old '1st level insect' philosophy TSR advocated for all starting characters back then. It's easily remedied though-- doubling the number of character points and raising the starting Talent limit to 10 should do the trick.
