Group after group, and session after session; it just delivers fun gameplay.
I give up! What is it?

d6 Star Wars
If you mean "traditional RPG" then Savage Worlds. If you mean "classed based traditional RPG with HP", then I'm not sure. Most OSR stuff is very DM dependent and the rest can get tired after awhile.

Yes. I'll add DCC. I think Classic DnD (B/X, BECMI, RC) fits in this category for me as well, but I make this comment from the GM's perspective.
Anything Palladium.
It's odd. Once everyone just accepts the crazy system and rolls with it, the actual gameplay in consistently awesome. I've seen this dozens of times running Rifts, Nightbane, Chaos Earth, Mechanoids, Ninjas & Superspies, or Palladium Fantasy, even with a table who spent the first 15 minutes crapping on the system (deservedly), but then when they just laughed off the system, the next 4 hours were terrific and everyone wanted more.
Kevin Siembieda has an amazing knack for creating rocking settings. I envy his talent in that regard.

Seconded. (Thirded?)
5e DnD.

I can't find fault with anything said here.
BX D&D of course. About as smooth as it gets and if you want more you can add in widgets from AD&D.
Others are Palladium. Especially the pre-Rifts stuff. A very easy system once you get out of chargen. I DMed ALOT of Beyond the Supernatural and Robotech way back.
Allmost too simple is Tunnels & Trolls. But it works and works darn well too.

You got my vote, it was my introduction to RPGs. And the no brand book D6 Space and it's companions is free in PDF form.
For the more Dungeoning experience, simple to learn and play. I would have to go with Barbarians of Lemuria.
I'll second anything in the Palladium lines.
Also we got tons of mileage out of Earthdawn.

I hear a lot of good things about AD&D 2nd Edition. I've never seen or tried that edition though.

That is the edition of the D&D family of games that I've played the most. You can indeed play for years and have great fun, like most similar games. I am honestly considering going back to it for my next campaign, but I haven't decided yet
Castles and Crusades has been my go to for 15 years. It's never let me down.
Star Wars D6 and Call of Cthulhu.
Palladium? C'mon people. I know you like it, but .............
People really like cocaine and heroin and Absinthe :p
And, yeah, I'm comparing your choice of tabletop RPG with a mind-bending drug addiction - only because the Palladium rules set has an interesting micro-game of finding the rules you need to play the fucking game.
Barbarians-of-Lemuria-Mythic-Edition (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/144526/Barbarians-of-Lemuria-Mythic-Edition) is a skirt-length candidate: long enough to cover the important parts, short enough to be attractive to the eye.

Start a C&C thread!!

Here's the thing. You're 100% right. Palladium's rules (beyond the very core) are byzantine (at best), but there is something bizarrely magical in the blend of those core rules and the settings that I can't exactly explain BUT HOT DAMN I have played so many Palladium sessions which far outclass the fun I've had with far "better" rules.

I don't think I have
ever heard a better description of
BoL. That's outstanding.
Although I really dig Fate Core, I think that BRP remains my old 'go-to' system, and I love RuneQuest and Stormbringer for fantasy play.
Actually OpenQuest is probably one of the best versions of BRP, its pretty simple and straight forward, it really deserves more attention.
I still like BRP as a good old fashioned 'go-to' system, and I think OpenQuest is about the most straight forward one to play.
I use it for crazy homebrew fantasy in the flavour of Dungeon Crawl Classics (lightly less gonzo).
I often tend to return to some version of the BRP system whenever I want to have a classic fantasy game.
Two BRP lines, Stormbringer and RuneQuest were both great, and their fantasy settings totally rock as well.
So I'm pretty happy that that RuneQuest Glorantha is back in town (although it's not simple, it's quite a crunchy system at times).
However, for a BRP system that's a bit simplier and very straightforward I tend to use OpenQuest, it's far less fiddily than classic BRP systems. Quick character gen, one-page character sheet, and great game to play at the table. I tend to run it in a hack fantasy setting akin to something like a less gonzo Dungeon Crawl Classics.
Fits like an old glove for me :)
The Fantasy Trip
Dungeon Crawl Classics
TSR D&D
I prefer original D&D or 1e AD&D, but I think B/X (esp. the '81 sets) is a fine choice for "just sit down and play it as written" TSR D&D.
Some flavor of BRP
Runequest 2, Stormbringer, et cetera.
