What games do you wish you were playing right now?

Pretty straightforward: what games are you not playing right now for whatever reasons, that you would be, "if there were world enough, and time"?

List as many as you like; I thought of five:

1) Dogs in the Vineyard
2) Heroquest
3) Marvel Super-Heroes, Advanced set
4) Star Wars D6
5) Shadows of Yesterday

Why I want to/why I'm not:

1) Dying to try it, raise-see looks fun, moral delimmas cool/plenty of interest from friends, local store owner open to hosting a demo, just haven't carved the time out yet to DO it.

2) Resolution system elegant, means of modeling things cool, looks like the perfect system to run a Middle Earth game in/need to finish up my OtE campaign before I can start GMing a new game for my regular group.

3) Just recently discovered the online PDFs, looks like it could support way cooler Classic-marvel play than we got from it as kids/Again, no time, plus a harder sell to a lot of friends and book availability problems.

4) Always wanted to try the system, some folks here have spoken highly of it, using 1s on the Wild Die for plot complications sounds nice and Star Wars-y/Picked up a used copy, probably have a ready audience if I wanted, but again, no time

5) Key (I.E. character motivation)-based experience looks like a way cool way to play Fantasy Roleplaying/no time, haven't really even shopped this one around much as it's last in line.

So there ya go.

Peace,
-Joel

PS Oh, Hon. mention Paranoia (any edition). Spent years peeking at Paranoia books, but never got to play. Looks like roaring fun!

My Top Five Games I wish to play in are:

1. Shadowrun (3rd Edition) - Classic Shadowrunning, but I want to PLAY not GM.

2. Champions (Hero System 5th Edition) - Classic Four Colour Superhero gaming. "I wanna be a HERO!"

3. Sengoku (Hero System 5th Edition) - Bushido, Way of the Warrior, Samurai, Ronin, and the Warring States. Japan, China, Korea, and the Mongals.

4. Victorian (Hero System 5th Edition) - The Great Game, The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, Around the World in 80 Days, The Wild Wild West, and so much more...

5. Pulp Hero/Golden Age (Hero System 5th Edition) - Doc Samson, The shadow, Indiana Jones, Captain America, etc...

I am playing Hero's Banner right now.

I also want to be playing my homebrew D&D variant right now, with my dwarven forge mastermaze stuff and painted mnis in full effect.

I'm vaguely interested in playing Fastlane right now. Also, The Fantasy Trip currently beckons.

That's about it, though the right game with the right group of players can attract me to just about anything.

1. Spirit of the Century - I've gotten to run it a lot, but not play it.
2. Savage Worlds Anything - I've had fun every time I've played this system.  It's a nice mix of tactics and crunch without being overwhelming.
3. Planescape (with any system) - Planescape is my very favorite setting ever, but I've never gotten to play around in it as much as I'd like.
4. Open Versatile Anime - I want to give this game a spin and see how it handles in play, I've been curious for some time.
5. Mutants & Masterminds 2nd Freedom City - Straight up four color supers sounds like a blast to me.

The systems I'd like to be using are,

GURPS - because I enjoy the realistic feel it can give, and character advancement, a point here or there, is enjoyable. I'm not playing it because no-one I know who's currently gaming GMs it.

Fate - because I enjoy the "literary" feel it gives, the depth of character in some few words. I'm not playing because virtually no-one plays or runs it around here.

HeroQuest - about the same as for Fate, excepting that I've not played it, and am interested in trying it. Because it's sloppily-written in the modern style of mixing up rules, play and GMing advice, and designer's notes, I'm not entirely sure I've got a good grasp of how it'd play out.

But the major reason is that most of the gamers I know only want to play, they don't want to GM. So if I want to try a system out, I have to run it.

Can we make a distinction here between "playing" and "running"?  'Cause I wanna play SOMETHING.  Run, run, run, that's all that I do, like a nose in Kindergarten.

What I'd prefer to play:

1. Classic Traveller I never get to play, but I have lots of characters waiting for it.

2. Microlite20 Same thing.  Let's get some graph paper, a pizza, some two-liters of Coke and Keep on the Borderlands.  I'm a first-level fighter named Erland of Highfort, and I seek my fortune.  Let's go find it!

3. Cyberpunk Really what I want is for someone to run my concept of a cyberpunk game.  And might I say "Romeo Void" was not just a great name for a new wave band, it's a great name for a cyberpunk guy, too.

4. Vice Squad: Miami Nights Duh.

5. Star Wars ...unless you're using the d20 one.  In that case, you're on your own.

Star Frontiers & Night Hawks Supplement (Original boxed sets) - The first game I ever purchased. Ran just one campaign with it and moved on to other things. I'm dying to get back to it. I replaced the non-human races with other races, so I'll not be running the setting as written, but still this is one game that I'm really dying to run again.

HeroQuest - Everything I ever wanted in a roleplaying - now if only I can get a handle on the rules and get the Jorune adaptation a friend has been workng on for some time.

Promethean : The Created - My players have never played a WW game as written. My current Hunter campaign, is certainly not very WW -ish. Promethean is something that interest us all. I would run a by the book campaign with this game.

Coyote Trail - Heard a lot about this game. I've always wanted to run a Western campaign instead of a series of one offs.

Esoterrorist - I've read some reviews. There's stuff in this game that I like. But for the moment I've got a lot of other homebrews with  similar premise in the backburner. Who knows I may just combine stuff from my own ideas with this game.

Games I would like to play (not GM which is my usual duty).

Blue Planet - Like the setting and all but I really don't want to be the guy in charge of it.  Wish somebody else would pony up and be the GM.

L5R - Always liked the non-historical japanese aspect of the game and the way a lot of the social set up is.  Just nobody else seems to be into it around here.

Cyberpunk 2020 - I've ran it lots of times and played in it lots of times.  Right now there is nobody willing to GM it at all.  A pity, I really would like to play a Techie again.

Games I'd like to play (or GM):

Burning Empires -- Play.  I got to play the demo game a couple of months ago and that's got me salivating for a more robust game.

Marvel Super Heroes, TSR -- GM.  Only because I had such a blast playing it growing up, I'd like to play it again for nostalgia's sake

Gamma World -- Either.  Never had a chance to play it before.  I've been meaning to rectify that but never been able to.

Tekumel -- Either.  This is on the chopping block.  Tekumel's a world I've always admired and I enjoy admiring it, I just don't know if I ever want to play with it.  Just thinking of trying to sell it to the group alone makes me not to want to bother.

Can I do settings instead of games, cause, generally GURPS or Rolemaster will do, I'm pretty chickenshit about running my own rules so I'll stick to the standbys.

Flash days: The earth is dying after a limited nuclear exchange.  In five days it'll be too cold to support life and everyone knows it.  The only thing left to do is party like it's the end of the world.  (Post Holocaust / Mad Max / Rock And Roll / Debauchery)

The Darkest Age: Dynastic historical campaign beginning in Russia the year is 1905.  Ideally a campaign where the PCs play through all the major events of the 20th century.

Nine Worlds Ring: The WDN engine has determined mathematically that the final war is upon the mighty warriors of the Ysg and the Vai.  The Troz military is rebuilt and their fleets are on the the move.  The children of the stars are coming forth in their great ceramic containment suits to lay waste to the civilized worlds.  In the depths of space the frozen colossi built by unknown races before recorded history are marhalling and converging on Yswrld.  Can the Ysg and Vai's new allies from the insignificant world called Earth turn the tide?  Where will the Zargart Halphr and the Zargart Ysmr turn their massive industrial might?  And what do the Aengyr want anyhow?  (Space Opera with forcfield projection vehicles and weapons and a decidedly Asgardian / Jack Kirby slant)
