This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I noticed a fantastic idea today (on TBP at that): doing a conversion for WFRP to 19th century adventuring, grim and gritty of course, in the style of something like Gangs of New York, that sort of thing.

I could just imagine the career lists, and it makes me positively salivate.

Interesting.  I've started working on a WFRP conversion to a wild west setting myself.  Similar to Deadlands in many ways only with a more WFRP feel to it and not tied into any sort of real world history.

A while back a regular poster over at Big Purple outlined an version of WFRP for the 'Napoleonic Era'.  It was rather cool.  I think the novel Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel could be mined for ideas.

But anyway, Pundit, is your idea to advance the Warhammer world 'forward in time' to be comparable to the 19th century, or developing an alternative world similar to our own 19th century for the WFRP rules?

Similar alternate world but grimier would probably make most sense.

That thread on tBP is pretty cool. I do fancy running a chaos free campaign with racial, nationalistic and religious undertones served up in a nice bloody package.

One Horse Town

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. I also think that A Game of Thrones would find a pretty good fit with the WFRP system.

Sadly, idea isn´t enough. Without the  careers, it won´t work.

Personally I would like to see a WFRP Ancients, to go with the Ancients wargaming line from the makers of WFB.
