So, there's judge dredd, and I like the gun they use in it, the lawgiver pistol. Whenever I get a chance I try to cop that for my characters in SFRPGs.

Sometimes when using energy weapons, I try to get away with saying "They look like the laser psitols from the original battlestar galactica series" or, for some variety, I sometimes describe them as looking like the sandman's guns from Logan's run.

But for function I do like the lawgiver, in settings where energy weapons don't dominate. I liked the look on them in the JD movie especially.

On a side note, I don't think the basic design of the judge uniforms was bad either, and with heavy recoloring and elimiation of some of the stupid iconography I sometimes cop them as body armor or general outfits.
