This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Sacrosanct;725349Because playing D&D isn't exactly an activity encouraged by the far religious right.  That's why it's surprising.

I'd love to see your proof that Michelle Malkin is a member of the Far Religious Right, but you're the same guy who claims that all Conservatives are racists.

Just tell me, should playing D&D only be allowed to be played by certain specific political affiliations or should all people be allowed to play the game?
"Meh."

Prove I said that.

Seriously Jeff, I'm about done with patience with you.  Put up, or shut up with this bullshit nonsense.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Love to, but the subject was brought up in what was otherwise a pretty cool thread.

All I mentioned was a list of people who played D&D that surprised me.  I made no commentary on my feelings of her politics one way or the other.

So that's a "no" then?  You can't remotely provide a link showing I said something which I know i never did and you're just making things up.  Again.

Sorry Brendan, but I won't mention this again until he can provide a link of me saying anything like that.  But don't worry, that won't happen.  Because it doesn't exist.  And hopefully we can continue to talk about games.

No.  This place turned into rpg.net about a month ago.
D&D is becoming Self-Referential.  It is no longer Setting Referential, where it takes references outside of itself. It is becoming like Ouroboros in its self-gleaning for tropes, no longer attached, let alone needing outside context.

Well thank you for the gesture, Jeff.

Metal is unsurprisingly well represented. Now we need to corrupt rap or pop music. Mwa ha ha!

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Don't forget Stephen Colbert, who also had a brief remembrance of Gary Gygax when he passed away.

Aaaand of course he was #1.  That's what I get for skipping that one.

When d12 came our, i thought it was a gaming reference, but apparently not. I suspect there are some closeted gamers in the pop and hip hop commnuties.

There's also all of Zak's porn starlet friends. Most of them I'd never heard of, but Stoya and Charlotte Stokely are pretty big names in the field.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Jim Butcher who wrote the Dresden Files is a big gamer too. Even LARPs.
