This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: monkeyfaceratboy;561169Sorry if this is a question that's been answered elsewhere, but are these simply scans of the original? Or have they been re-typeset with the original text/art? Or...?

These have been re-typeset with original art.  The font and spacing inside are slightly different.  There will be a full review on my website, very soon.

Yay!  Now I has them too!

They look as good as you could hope for.  They seem thinner than the originals, but I suspect that's because page thickness is smaller.  And the pages are bright white, as opposed to my gray or yellowed pages in the original.  And the cover art images don't have the contrast like the originals.

Either way, they still look good.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

More updates as I look into them...

I thought so. I knew I liked you for some undefined reason. :)

My cats help me roll the dice sometimes. ;)

Not mine.  They learned from kittens not to fuck with my dice.

Well to be honest I don't have a huge dice fetish like many gamers. It was more a comment that any guy that can have cats is all good in my book.

You won't be disappointed.  The only way, for me, that this could be cooler is if they had the original covers and were copies of true first prints.  Not that these aren't awesome!

Now I wonder what Wizards does for an encore?

I think the Classic modules need a re-releasing.  Hell, sell 'em in a slipcase, all 14, charge $70.  I'd buy it in a heartbeat.  Wouldn't even have to be the pastel covers, either.  T1, A1, A2, A3, A4, G123, S1, S2, S3, S4, C1, C2, WG5, WG6...not the mega-modules, either, mind, but the individuals.

That might be a harder sell though since they "just" re-released G1, G2, G3, B2, I6, S2 (and L3!) back in '99 with the Silver Anniversary set.  Plus I think in like '98 or 2000 or so, the Tomb of Horrors boxed set had a reprinting of the original pastel covered S1 in it.

I really hope this is proof though that if they loosen up their grip on the old stuff we will buy it.

Perlor beads? Do you mean "Pearl"? Also it's documented fact my cat rolls dice better than myself.  My group is cool with it because they are tired of rolling them for me. Maybe she's my familiar? :D
