This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Not a review, I'm too far behind on those things anyway, and I didn't buy the damn thing...

... but I looked through it. Here's a thing that struck me. The first major chapter is character creation, where you pick a template. It's even got information on customizing the damn things.

Despite being thicker than any single Torg book before it (two or three times...) it has exactly...

ZERO TEMPLATES!!!!

Oh, sure, the next chapter is all about free form character creation, so it's not a critical issue, but sweet baby jesus, people. Either cut the template chapter out of the damn book or spend a few pages on fakking templates!!!

Is it so very hard to grasp this???
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

This doesn't bode well for WEG's attempts to re-enter the physical publishing market...
Now Prepping: One-shot adventures for Coriolis, RuneQuest (classic), Numenera, 7th Sea 2nd edition, and Adventures in Middle-Earth.

Recently Ended: Palladium Fantasy - Warlords of the Wastelands: A fantasy campaign beginning in the Baalgor Wastelands, where characters emerge from the oppressive kingdom of the giants. Read about it here.

I thought I remembered reading on WEG's site that the book contains no background information at all; that the new book is just rules updates, and that the setting is available in the original books. I guess this new rulebook is aimed pretty squarely at the preexisting Torg market only.

Here's a link to the catalogue information:

The only thing I ever believed in the Bible was John 11:35.

Little does. Their statement about leaving the makret was...an interesting choice.

TORG was a game I dug, until it got absolutely wrecked by the sourcebooks.

That said, WEG are a gang of fucking wankers, and clueless ones at that. If this is the horse they're betting their last dime on, they're fucked.

What statement was this?  It's a bit surprising seeing how I expect delivery of some WEG D6 Fantasy books today.  And they just recently announced that they are coming out with a new D6 Sci-Fi setting at GenCon this year.

Sorry. It wasjust that they weren't printing any more products until the market picked up...

True. They've got Bill Coffin (of Palladium fame) writing a big space opera game for them; it's called Septimus. His description of it looks very cool.
