Title: The Lovecraft Variant
Post by: IceBlinkLuck on September 16, 2010, 11:05:05 PM
Hey Everyone,

About a million years ago Sorcerer's Apprentice published a very interesting article that adapted the Tunnels and Trolls engine into the Lovecraft Mythos. It had some very well thought out approaches to the genre and in many ways foreshadowed what Chaosium would later release as Call of Cthulhu. It was in issue number 7 of SA. Sadly I loaned out my copy a few years ago and never got it back and I'm pretty sure I can't get it back now.

If anyone has this article and feels like doing someone are really big favor, I would really like a pdf copy of it. Alternately if someone knows where I can purchase a copy of the magazine that would work just as well.

Thanks in advance

I had a look through my magazine hoard but came up empty on that one... found some interesting old fanzines though...

Sorcerer's Apprentice was a very good magazine, so I was curious enough to ask about whether any of these are likely to make it to .pdf format (a number of other early T&T products have like various solos and Monsters!Monsters!).  Answer is a little disappointing but its not a totally lost cause.

Quote from: Flying BuffaloProblem is that our editor at the time carefully protected the rights
of the artists and writers, so we only purchased the "first run
printing" rights of each article and piece of artwork. In order to
make them available as a pdf, we'd have to get permission from all of
the writers and artists of the entire issue.

I suppose I could get as many permissions as I can find, and then
make parts of the issues available. I may yet try that.

Well I applaud the editor protecting creative rights. On the other hand...would really like SA on pdf. ::sigh::

Copies of the magazine seem to be fairly rare, but they do come up from time to time. I think Noble Knight has a few issues available right now.
