Title: Superhumour versus the Rotting Zombie!
Post by: Anthrobot on February 07, 2007, 05:08:48 AM
My Squadron UK(superhero)scenarios are getting a little too serious.I need to inject a bit of humour into them and have considered running a slightly silly scenario to give myself and my players some respite from the horror of alien menaces and Satanic cultists.
My problem is that I don't want to overdo the silly humour and derail the horrorific elements of my game. Can anyone suggest a way to walk the line between a refreshing blast of humour and the ongoing horror laden atmosphere?

A rival superhero group that, while good-intentioned, is just really, really bad at it either due to inappropriate powers (it's British so "The Cricketeer" and "Big Ben - the man with no time for crime" (and yes, I nicked that off Alan Moore) leap to mind), general incompetence or both

Hmm... *goes off on a tangent*

Humorous British supervillains...

Yoof Culture - Taking advantage of a special offer Jean Rhode-Carrier went through a week of drinking special 'live' yoghurt drinks, only to be infected with sentient bacteria. Sentient bacteria that have leant her boundless energy, teenage hormones and a mind under constant assault from the sensation-craving bacteria. Slave to fads and popular culture she spends all the time she isn't in institutions disrupting youth events and engaging in very public acts of disruption, vandalism and thrillseeking, often putting others in danger.

The Chav - His face rendered invisible by his hooded top The Chav is able to split himself into many different individuals, all capable of nicking a car stereo or selling 'moody' gold chains in under thirty seconds. Unfortunately he's also underage and can't be prosecuted as an adult. Even The ASBO Avenger hasn't been able to control the young hoodlum.

The Sloane Rangers - A group of elite agents, social elite that is, meting out vigilante vengence as they try to keep up 'standards' in their parts of the country. Wielding money and influence as their superpower their victims might be killed for the slightest social faux-pas and, while beating Jade Goody to death with polo mallets earned them some sympathy in the public at large the government still considers them a rogue element that must be put down.

Section 8 - A secret wing of the military devoted to watching superhumans, dealing with their excesses and sweeping as much weirdness under the rug as possible.

That would be a perfect solution to my dilemma.Comedy and zombie horror.:eek:However I'd have to disguise the origin of any scenario stolen from a film, otherwise my players would throttle me after groaning at my cheek!
