This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dang, there's some good stuff there!  I've often considered getting a copy of the Runequest Borderlands module just to convert it and set it up next to the Keep on it.  I'm that kind of knucklehead sometimes.

Word to the wise (in case you don't get the copy in the auction): Moon Design's Borderlands and Beyond reprint gives you all the Borderlands material and a grab-bag of bonus RQ2 material in the bargain.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Some times I think about how much RPG stuff gets thrown away every day.  I mean think about it, houses being sold, attics being cleaned, boxes of stuff from college, whatever...you can't tell me there aren't boxes of old RPG stuff that parents don't look into, ask thier kids if they still want it, and they say, "eh, just throw it out".  I bet a copy of OD&D gets thrown away every month.

Every so often I run across a box of modules or the odd rulebook at flea markets and garage sales. one time at the flea market I got a slew of Greyhawk modules for 1st and 2nd AD&D, $5.00 for the whole box .

That was my first thought, too, but...

Many years ago, I ordered a couple of Call of Cthulhu adventures directly from Chaosium by mail.  They had a special deal going where, if you ordered items totalling over a certain dollar amount, they'd throw in a special surprise.  The surprise I received was two of the booklets from the boxed set of Borderlands.  They were apparently remainders from an odd print lot or something, and it was a convenient way for them to A) get rid of them, and B) spread the word about their other products.  They totally blew me away.  I have them to this day, and they provide me with great inspiration from time to time.

So, every now and then, I think of how cool it would be to get the whole boxed set.  Not just the collected text, but the actual box in which these two booklets belong.

Le sigh. Looks like the Borderlands box is already gone.

I lost my entire collection of games like that. All stuff from the late 70's up through the middle late eighties, lots of comics from the same period, too.

Are you and Grubman trying to make me cry?

James J Skach

There's a guy here at work who admitted, after all the razzing I got for being the RPG geek, to having played back in the day.  He then informs me he's got boxes and boxes of stuff in his parents basement that he keeps forgetting about - going back to, he claims, an early white box circa 1976.

I told him I'd give him $100 for all of it...ya know...just to take it off his hands and get it out of his parents' basement. For some reason, he declined.

Sadly it ranks among the least of my parent's offenses.

Yeah, just like I have the Thieves' World boxed set that someone else here was pining after.  This thread just emphasises the fact that there ought to be a magical sorting machine that distributes all of the things that people don't really want or need to the people who do really want or need them.  All those chaff games I have sitting in boxes in the basement would go to someone who really wants them, and I'd have the boxed Borderlands.

(P.S. And, please, don't anyone point me to that abomination called ebay as a solution.)

You mean...someone out there might actually want that copy of Man, Myth and Magic I have in my storage boxes?
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

Someone, somewhere, yes.  But not me.  :)

See?  This is why we need the magic sorting machine.  We could use it for redistributing food, resources, and wealth, too.  We'd be living in a socialist utopia over night!  But let's take care of the gaming resources first.
