Title: Shades of Empire?
Post by: RPGPundit on January 15, 2009, 06:00:57 PM
Am I correct that this is the first new book for WFRP from Fantasy Flight games?
Am I also correct that its already out?

Has anyone picked this up already? Has the "style" of the book changed perceptibly from the old BI books, either in format or in the overall "atmosphere" of the game?

One thing I loved about 2e WFRP is that it was firmly entrenched (in the BI books) in the spirit of WFRP being a game of action and adventure, with investigative elements, but very much focused on being a game of adventuring.  I'm concerned that under its new management, there may be some attempt to wussify WFRP back into the style preferred by some of the WFRP-swine, of a very investigative-focused game where combat is all but actively discouraged.

As far as i understand it, this book was under construction when the licence was transfered to FFG from BI. As such, it remained the work of GR and some familiar freelancers from BI. The Career Compendium will be the first truly original FFG book.
