I'm looking for info about osr-game treasure tables, ones that are variant, ideally in interesting ways, from the standard ones from the various D&D editions.  Either stuff found in products, or free ones available wherever...

Anyone got something to share?

Well, here are the two pages on it I put into Spears of the Dawn, to try to give a bit more local flavor to the typical loot trove- and also because I could never keep treasure type codes straight in my head.

Dragon magazine had a GREAT "common items" "treasure" table that we used the Hell out of...

...and it actually worked out at times (like someone finding a jar of marbles that they later used to trip up a pursuing enemy).

Damned if I know the issue number, though.

I had some interesting items found in DD1, and ... I think we did an "interesting treasures" list for a module by Stuart Marshall (although it may have been just "interesting junk").

If only there was a community of like-minded people who could contribute to such a table, perhaps in the form of an electronic message sharing system...

Someone was floating an idea not too long ago where the treasure types, indicated by letters of the alphabet, represented categories of valuable objects, like F = Furniture or B = Books. So monster listings would include a code like FHPXX that would describe what kinds of items would be included in the treasure.

Of course, the problem was that someone would have to write up a list of codes for existing monsters, so I haven't seen anything more about that. Anyways, I believe the idea was written up in a Fight On! article. It was also posted to the ODD74 forums.

This site has some of the coolest treasure generators ever. Its useful for several different rulesets too.

Rats are extra. What kind of place do you think this is?

Very interesting! Am I to think I might be getting a review copy of Spears sometime?

Huh- I thought I sent one out in the last batch, but now I see that it was a month too early for that. I've just sent out one that ought to get there eventually, barring postal malfeasance.

Ironically the best one I seen for any classic D&D game is GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 7: Treasure Table For example I generated a magic spike that produced a shower of damaging sparks in a radius around the person striking it with a hammer with the spike against a hard surface. Just use $20 = 1 gp as a conversion of value.

Kellri's Encounter Reference has a excellent section on Treasure generation.
