Post by: Grognard101 on February 16, 2019, 11:40:37 PM
I am an old school gamer (started in early 80s) and a die hard D&D guy. We still run AD&D and I know a lot of old school Renaissance people come here to talk. I started running old Judges Guild adventures for my son and his friends. They got a girl playing to so that has been fun. I also read Pundits blog so it seemed a good idea to introduce myself.

Glad to find this place. I used to be on RPG net and it was hard to talk about osr thee without being jumped on by a bunch of liberals. Just here to play games and roll dice!

Welcome. A lot of rpgnet (or npcnet as I like to call them) refugees here. We lean a bit more right/libertarian but as long as you're here mainly for gaming you won't have any problems.

Welcome!!!  I've been here for several months now, and it's a fine place to talk about all relevant RPG topics; unless you start crying, and demanding that we provide you a safe space....  Haha!!!  Welcome aboard!!!

Damn the SJW crap!!!  Old school is still cool here.  Post away.

RPG.net is a Stalinist cesspit. You've made a wise choice to come here instead.

Also, I am a fan of D&D and even though I was born in 1993 and started with D&D 3.5, I am still yet an even bigger fan of AD&D and the OSR games. This site is part of the reason why.

Got my start with traveler, but we don't play a lot of it these days. We did get the reprint of West End Games one recently as we lost our copy in 2010 during a house fire.

Do you have a favorite D&D campaign setting?

I generally prefer to make my own setting, but I do like Ravenloft as well.

I had the original Stormbringer boxed set, I think by Chaosium. I believe Games workshop made a later edition of Stormbringer.
Actually Stormbringer was the first RPG I ever ran.

The first RPG I played was ADnD.

Oddly its Maztica. Greyhawk was our first setting but Maztica ended up being popular with my buds.

Welcome aboard Grognard101!!

I played extremely little Maztica and I never heard it on anybody's fave list, thus YOU must start a MAZTICA thread!!

Not joking. Totally want to hear about your Maztica campaigns and why it works for your crew.

Everyone is WELCOME to discuss ANY kind of games. The main RPG forum is for traditional RPGs. The OTHER GAMES forum is for everything else.

Posters are 1000% welcome to wank about their favorite storygames in the Other Games forum.

Same with board games, card games, 40k, etc.

Howdy! Neat to hear you like Maztica. :) I had a few ideas myself about changing the game so as to make its magic competitive vs. Faerûn, and left that design topic in this website's design forum. Let me find it and link it and we can explore ideas! :)

edit: found it! here ya go! (https://www.therpgsite.com/showthread.php?32674-Maztica-the-re-working&highlight=Maztica)

I really like the Underdark, but I don't want to just focus on Drow all the time.

Welcome!

I love the old JG stuff!
My favorite canned adventure of all time is Dark Tower.
I have run The Thieves Fortress of Badabaskor many times I've lost track.
