QuoteHi all,

We are aiming to put out an official announcement shortly about the deal but I can also field some questions now. Although pleased bear with us as we only finalised the deal a few days ago and only got back to the UK on Tuesday so are still recovering from post-GenCon catch-up (plus I've come down with the post-air travel/convention cold...)

I am one of the owners of Cubicle 7 Entertainment - publishers of SLA Industries and Victoriana 2nd Edition and owners and organisers of the Dragonmeet Convention in London and the Gameforce Network (a local games organisation). We will also be releasing Starblazer Adventures (a pulp sci-fi game using the award winning FATE system ) and Normal, Texas (by Jason Blair of Little Fears fame) this coming winter.

At the moment the translation schedule we're looking at for the 7th Circle titles is, and this could be subject to change, as follows:

1. QIN Gamemaster Screen
2. QIN Bestiary
3. Kuro RPG
4. QIN Art of War
5. Humanydyne RPG
6. QIN Tian XIa : Xianyang (City Book and Part 1 of a 2 Part Campaign)

We're going to start working on the Screen pretty much straight away and will try and get it in the stores as soon as possible (which probably means the winter allowing for translation/print/and distributor lead time).

We will then aim for two QIN books a year with any luck.

Thanks for the interest and the continued support for the game.

That would be good news but for one glaring problem:

I can't seem to get existing Cubical 7 product from the local game stores as it is. their stuff is 'here' in the general sense, but the LGS is full of chowder headed dumbasses when it comes to ordering stuff from them apparently. I've been trying for several months.

Hey, anything that gets Qin wider distro or more English products rocks, as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely excellent news, and the right decision for all concerned.  Qin stands to do really well as an RPG in the English-speaking gaming world, as long as it has, oh, say, people who speak english handling its promotion and distribution.

Oh, absolutely -- Valerie and the rest of the folks at 7ieme Cercle are just SO awful...I mean, they were only able to promote it and distribute it to the point where it had enough market penetration to be nominated for 7 ENNies and win 2 of them.

I don't think the Ennies mean a thing in the real world.

I don't know any retailer who's even heard of them. Never mind any players.

English speaking people is exactly what they need.

Their web support was pathetic, the book was fatally late, and then the company reps started to blame the lack of sophistication of the american market for the reason why Qin "failed".  Qin didn't fail, 7eme circle did.

Oh, and really Gareth, how much "market penetration" do you need to get nominated for an ENNie? According to its back cover, the Dread ["RPG" won an ENNie, and its probably sold.. what.. 7 copies?

'Fatally late'; that should be the epitaph of the entire rpg industry. It absolutely escapes me how some companies just remain in busines and continue to get taken seriously after everything they relaase seems hampered by crippling delays. I mean look at WotG; I don't think i ever saw that in the shops for at least a year after first hearing about it, and to the best of my knowledge they still haven't released it. Unhallowed Metopolis is the same. It's totally ridiculous to run a business this way.

And then people complain about pdf piracy.

Qin is a great game, but are they a great company. I would have to agree they are falling short.

And then there's Cthulhutech. A game I defended (conceptually) against people quick to laugh at the whole 'mecha' element. I would still defend it, but fuck them if they think I'm going to pay through the nose for a book that STILL has yet to see print.

I mean it can't be that hard to print something.
