This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Shouldn't this be in Off Topic?

This board talks about D&D, right? If this film isn't on topic for D&D, I don't know what is.

God, for a moment I thought we're talking about THE Cult, aka Death Cult, aka Southern Death Cult. Souvenir, souvenir...

Let me affirm here my resolutely heterosexist, manly-handshake position on all matters genital before I declare the obvious:

Ian Astbury was truly hawt.

Sorry, darling, but I think HM counts as a gamer's movie. Ha, that kid in "Den"  pretty much had to have been a gamer.
RPGPundit is a fucking fascist asshole and a hypocritial megadouche.

My copy got stolen a few years back and I never managed to replace it.  It was the special edition with the unused footage that took place after the Captian Stern segment showing various historical events including the crucifiction of Christ.

I need to replace it someday.

The "Neverwhere" stuff, if I recall correctly.  It's neat stuff -- trippy and...kind of...dark.  It's cool to watch it, but cutting it out of the final didn't hurt much.

Plus it featured no boobs.

Dude!  Check this bit of trivia from Wikipedia:

"Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian animated film from executive producer Leonard Mogel ... Mogel planned another film to be promoted under his "Heavy Metal Presents" banner, and Scott Roberts did extensive work scripting an adaptation of William Gibson's short story "Burning Chrome", writing a total of six screenplay revisions. However, this project, planned as a live-action film, was eventually sold by Mogel to Carolco, and the film was never made. Mogel had a meeting with director Luc Besson, since he wanted Besson to direct Burning Chrome."

Holy crap!  That woulda been brain-burningly awesome!

I wanna sidestep to the alternate reality where it did happen.

EDIT -- Trivia I can confirm:  Heavy Metal's release title in Mexico was Universo de Fantasia, which means exactly what you're thinking it means.

Totall Recall, by the way, was re-titled Avenger of the Future.

(EDITED: My first reply was a bit too crude)

Dreams don't count.

I think my group quotes from Heavy Metal more than Monty Python.
